Dolphin Digest

November 10, 2024
West End Dolphin Pod Squad,
We had a fantastic three-day week filled with hands-on learning and exciting opportunities for our students! Here are some highlights from the week:
- In first grade, our young learners have been working hard to master addition and subtraction through word problems. They’re developing great problem-solving skills and building confidence with each new challenge!
- Our third graders have been focused on becoming multiplication math fact masters. They’re making impressive progress as they continue to strengthen their math foundation.
- In art, all of our students created a collaborative mural inspired by the book The Dot, which encourages them to "leave their mark" wherever they go. This inspiring message reminds our students of the importance of creativity, teamwork, and individuality. The mural will be proudly displayed in the school as a lasting symbol of their collective effort.
- On Friday, we were fortunate to partner with the Pickens County Career and Technology Center (PCCTC), who brought members of their staff and about 50 students to work with our 3rd-5th graders. It was an enriching experience for our students to engage in hands-on lessons aligned with real-world careers:
- Third graders participated in a logistics game that helped them explore the world of supply chains and problem-solving.
- Fourth graders worked on activities related to their electricity unit.
- Fifth graders had a blast building birdhouses.
- We are so grateful for this ongoing partnership with PCCTC, which gives our students the opportunity to explore different career paths and gain valuable hands-on experience.
We’re excited about all the learning that took place this week and look forward to more great things ahead. Thank you for your continued support of our school community!
