TEAM SUCCESS NEWSLETTER
February 2025
WELCOME TO FEBRUARY
Dear Parent/Guardian,
This month we celebrate Black History Month by commemorating the achievements of Black Americans, and in particular, Black Floridians. As Florida Commissioner of Education Manny Diaz, Jr. has explained, “African Americans have a long and proud history in our great state of Florida, and Black History Month is the perfect occasion to celebrate their many achievements. Learning about African American achievements is central to learning about Florida and America itself."
In February, we also mark the mid-point of our third quarter by sending out progress reports, and we celebrate friendship on February 14, Valentine's Day.
On February 11, 2025, we will have our annual Testing Bootcamp and Title 1 input meeting. Please stay tuned for the invite. You will have the opportunity to write a letter of encouragement to your student for the upcoming testing season.
Thank you for being a part of our Team Success family!
As always, please feel free to reach out to your child's teachers and to our school staff and administrators in the main office with any questions or concerns.
NEW EXECUTIVE ORDERS- IMMIGRATION
Recently, new Executive Orders were signed related to immigration. In our effort to be transparent with our Team Success families, we want to share the following:
- In the United States, ALL children have the right to a public-school education, regardless of immigration status (Supreme Court case: Plyler vs. Doe, 1982).
- Team Success administration and staff have been trained to follow lawful protocols if any agency were to come on campus:
- Protocols include requiring evidence of Judicial Orders or Lawful Served Warrants.
- Consult the school’s legal department.
The safety of all staff and students is our top priority. We will continue to communicate with families to help understanding Executive Orders. Thank you for your continuous support. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
Testing Bootcamp & Title 1 Budget (Letters of Encouragement)
All you need to know about WIDA, ESOL, accommodation & interventions dates and information. You don't want to miss out on such important information that you need to know to be able to help your child succeed during testing season. We will be doing some letters of encouragement for you to be able to write something to your child and they will receive this before our last state test. We would like for ALL our grade level parents to attend to this meeting and give us feedback as well regarding our Title 1 Budget. We cant wait to have you all at the North Campus to share this information.

OUT OF FIELD TEACHERS
All Educators in Florida are monitored to ensure they meet certification and training requirements as mandated by law. Per Florida Statute 1012.42, when a teacher is assigned teaching duties out of the field in which the teacher is certified, the parents of all students in the class shall be notified in writing.
Team Success is committed to providing quality instruction for all students and does so by employing the most qualified individuals to teach and support each student in the classroom. All of our teachers are certified to teach, although some of them are currently out-of-field and are working on additional areas of certification. You have the right to know the professional qualifications of the teachers who instruct your child. Federal law allows you to ask for certain information about your child’s teachers and requires us to give you this information in a timely manner if you ask for it.
If you would like more information, please contact your school at (941)714-7260 for K-5th grade or (941)444-4333 for 6th through 12th grade.
The table below lists teachers who are currently out-of-field.

IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE
Attendance Matters: In school, every day!
Please make sure that your child is in school every day for every class, on time and ready to learn.
Did you know that missing 10% or more of school puts a child in much greater danger of falling behind academically and struggling with reading and math? It also increases the danger of not graduating from high school.
Ten percent is just 2 days a month! That means that being absent just 2 days a month puts your child at greater risk. This is true regardless of whether the absence is excused or unexcused.
So please, in as much as possible, make medical appointments outside school hours and take vacations or trips during school breaks, so your children receive the full benefits of their time at Team Success.
