Ellerth E. Larson Elementary
August 20th, 2023
Principal Corner
Dear Larson Elementary Families,
As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and secure learning environment, Larson Elementary will be conducting a scheduled lockdown drill on Friday, November 22. This practice is essential in helping both students and staff understand the procedures we follow to keep everyone safe.
During the drill, students will remain in their classrooms with their teachers, practicing the safety steps we have reviewed together. We make every effort to communicate these procedures in a calm and age-appropriate manner, helping students understand that this is a practice drill, similar to fire or earthquake drills.
What to Know:
Teachers will discuss the drill in advance, helping students know what to expect.
Students will be guided through the steps for staying quiet and safely in place with their teacher.
The drill will last approximately 5 minutes, after which we will resume our regular school day.
Please feel free to talk with your child about the importance of following safety procedures in school. If you have any questions or concerns about the lockdown drill, don’t hesitate to contact our office at 331-8391.
Thank you for your support in helping us prioritize safety at Larson Elementary.

Below is a link to a PDF that does a great job of explaining our house system and what the core of our school believes in engaging our students in a high quality education.
"The goal of the Larson House System and The Great 28 is to encourage a supportive and engaging environment for our students. Studies show that schools with house systems have happier, more engaged students and have more school spirit than they did before a house system was implemented."
