WEEK OF OCT 7-11
This week is Spirit Week! We hope you participate and get into the fun! Students, please make sure you get signed up for a student led conference once the teacher sends out that information. Students, please make every effort to be at school every day and to stay in class. We know this can be difficult, but the best chance to graduate is to be at school earning credits.
SENIOR STANDING MEETING FRIDAY (10/11): Meet with Alison and Victor to discuss all things related to your senior standing. Career Center.
SIGNING UP FOR OUR NEXT FLEX MONDAY STARTING THURSDAY: Students, please make sure you sign up for your Club/Activity and for Session 2 for our next Flex Monday on October 14th. You can start signing up on Thursday and have until Monday @ 7am on the 14th. Students who do not sign up for a club/activity will get placed into one.
SCHOOL LINKS CATCH UP: Are you behind in your SchoolLinks Lessons in Advisory, but caught up in your other classes? Sign up for “School Links Catch-up” with Alison Von Stein that will be held on our next FLEX MONDAY!
STUDENT LED CONFERENCES (SLCs): October 23-25th. All students are required to participate in Student Lead Conferences and we would love you to be a part of their conference! Teachers are going to start scheduling conferences. Please be looking for emails from advisors requesting to schedule conferences. Our goal is for 100% student/family participation.
IMPACT AID- Federal Forms: The school Impact Aid/Federal Forms will be sent home with students at the beginning of the week. We need 100% participation from families. Yearly we receive money to support activities, snacks, and programs such as our success academy based on the collection of these forms. Please make sure you send them in right away.

This event is more than just a space where CPTC comes together to share about our programs and services, this can support students and parents in our community to be exposed to careers they never even thought about.

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS(SERVICE) INFORMATION
Students are learning in Advisory that there are requirements for Community Connection for every grade level this school year:
12th - 8 hours (24 hours for honor cord)
11th - 6 hours
10th - 4 hours
7th-9th - 2 hours
"Community Connection" can be either in the form of community service or a job shadow experience. These hours are due prior to Spring conferences, which are held in the first week of April this school year.
Students may find their own community connection experience or you can sign up for one or more of Saturday opportunities that are available for Challenger students!

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES- GET COMMUNITY CONNECTION HOURS
ASVAB TESTING: Attention Juniors and Seniors!
Challenger High School is offering the ASVAB test on Dec. 4th and April 23rd from 11:30am -2:00pm.
The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) is a multiple-choice test that measures your abilities and helps predict future academic and occupational success. The test is FREE and there is no obligation to join the military. Scoring a 31 or higher on the test will satisfy your “Graduation Pathway” state requirement. AM students taking the test will need to have their own transportation home around 2:00pm on the day of the test.

2024 HIV/AIDS Curriculum Parent & Guardian Preview for Grades 5-12: Parents and guardians are invited to review the HIV/AIDS curriculum that will be introduced to students as part of the HIV/AIDS Prevention education later this year. To opt your student(s) out of this curriculum, attending a parent preview session is required. You should attend a preview session if you wish to view the curriculum yourself or if you are considering opting your student(s) out. This process must be completed each school year.
