CONGRATULATIONS MRS. JENKINS TEACHER OF THE YEAR!
Mrs. Jenkins has been at Emerson for 21years, she has taught 6th Grade, Kindergarten, 3rd grade and most recently 2nd Grade. She has brought her teaching expertise in curriculum and her amazing ability to build rapport with students, families and colleagues to each position. Mrs. Jenkins has always been more than willing to take on responsibilities outside of her classroom to better the educational experience of all students and to provide professional growth for colleagues. She is a leader at Emerson and staff often times look to her for guidance, advice and support.
To be an outstanding teacher of the year you also have to be an outstanding person. Mrs. Jenkins is outgoing, friendly and kind. She comes to school each day and works as if the children assigned to her are her own children, she not only effectively imparts curriculum but day in and day out she teachers life lessons and social emotional skills to better her student’s lives.
Our very own first grade student, Cody Conser-Quarterman made a very thoughtful donation to the library, in the name of his mother, Paula Quarterman, who passed away. Cody said “My mom loved to read, so it is the right thing to do.” His donation will be used to purchase books about science and music, Cody and Paula’s favorite things. If you happen to see him in the halls, be sure to say thank you.
PAWSOME STUDENTS!
Faith Stephens
Faith has been a Pawsome 5th grader lately in our classroom! She comes in, gets to work, asks questions to clarify, and is super helpful. I am looking forward to seeing how well Faith does for the rest of 5th grade! Keep it up, Faith!
