A Note From the Principal
Dear Mount Horeb Area School District Families,
Happy Spring! Because it's the fourth quarter of school, we want to emphasize the critical importance of regular attendance for our students' academic success. Research shows that students who miss even a few days of school each month are at a higher risk of facing academic challenges. Building the habit of daily attendance is crucial for your student's future opportunities and achievements. We are here to support you in fostering a culture of consistent school attendance. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us for assistance and resources to help your student attend school regularly and thrive academically.
Thank you for partnering with us in prioritizing attendance and setting our students up for success.
Sincerely,
Rachael Johnson, K-2 Principal
Kindergarten Music Concert & Gallery Walk - Friday, April 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM
We are so excited for our upcoming Kindergarten Music Concert! The concert will take place Friday, April 19 starting at 2:00 PM at the Primary Center. Please note that our concert will take place in the Primary Center gymnasium.
This year we are also excited to announce that in conjunction with the Kindergarten concert, we will be hosting a kindergarten art gallery walk! There will be a map printed on the back of your concert program that will guide your art gallery tour. After the concert, you may go pick up your child from their designated area and do the gallery walk together. With this event taking place near the end of our school day, we simply ask that you complete your gallery walk no later than 2:50 PM so that we can safely clear the hallways to get our students ready for dismissal.
We will be unlocking the north, south, and west Primary Center gymnasium doors starting at 1:30 PM on the day of the concert. Guests will not be permitted into the building before 1:30 PM. We are encouraging families to park on Academy St. and 2nd St. There will only be minimal parking available in the PC lot and down in the ELC lot.
In our gymnasium, we will have bleacher and chair seating. We ask that the chair seating be reserved for visitors with mobility limitations, parents with small children, and as overflow seating once the bleachers are full.
At the end of the concert, teachers will be taking their students to a designated area. Parents will be dismissed by class to check in with the classroom teacher and pick up their child and then complete the art gallery walk.
The children are very excited about performing for us, and sharing their artwork! Thank you for being a part of this event. We are looking forward to seeing you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Knapp, Music Teacher, Ms. Godfrey, Art Teacher & Mrs. Johnson, Principal

Family Reading Night - Wednesday, May 29th
The K-5 Reading Specialists will be hosting a Family Reading Night on Wednesday, May 29th from 6:30-7:30 at the Intermediate Center, 200 Hanneman Boulevard, Mt Horeb.
Bring the whole family and bond over good books read by celebrity guest readers. We will be sharing valuable strategies and try decodable books to help your child become a stronger reader. There will also be information about the Mount Horeb Public Library's Summer Reading Program.
Lastly, each student will get to enter into a raffle to win a free book and there will be a special treat for all to enjoy! We hope to see you there!
Bus Change Notification Procedure
If your child is riding a different bus or getting off at a different stop using their assigned bus, you should fill out this BLUE NOTE form for the Bus Garage. The Bus Garage will let the bus driver and your child's school office know of the change and the office will get a note to your child's teacher.
Gum chewing is not allowed at school or on school buses. Thank you!
Absence Notification Process - Please Notify The Office
If your child will need to be absent from school for any reason, be picked up early or have a different going home plan that does not include riding the bus, please use one of the following options to notify the school.
- You may fill out the Absence Request in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal
- Call the PC office at 437-7506 or ELC office at 437-7606
- Email the PC office at pcattendance@mounthorebschools.org or the ELC office at elcattendance@mounthorebschools.org
Please use one of the three options listed above instead of reaching out to the classroom teacher as they may not get your message or may be absent that day and your message will not be received. Using one of the options listed above will insure that your child's absence notification is received in the event that your child has a substitute teacher or your child's teacher hasn't had the opportunity to check their messages. We will always notify the teacher of your absence or going home change requests.
Thank you for your partnership in this matter,
