Dear Families,
September is here! We have had a super two weeks of school. Our students are beginning to get into a good school routine. We are sending home some information regarding our school-wide expectations as well as general discipline information today. Please take some time to review this information and remind your students about what the expectations are. Thank you for the support you are giving to them!
In this newsletter, you will find some important links, dates, and information that will be useful to you and help us all to get off to a great start! If you have any questions, please reach out to your child's teacher or to the office.
Thank you,

Student Absences
Submitting Absence Notes & BCS Calling System:
When your student is absent from school, please submit a note when your student returns. Absence notes may now be submitted electronically this year by following this link:https://www.berkeleycountyschools.org/o/bcs/page/absencenote
It is very important to submit a note or send a note for your student. If you know in advance that your child will be absent, please contact the teacher 5 days before the scheduled absence. There will be a form to complete.
Also, when your child is absent, calls are made district-wide to let parents/guardians know. If you know that your child is home, you do not need to call the school. It is a courtesy call for families and mainly is applicable to older students, but is a district-wide system.
School-Wide Attendance Monthly Contest:
Each day, school admin will visit classrooms to check student attendance at 9:00 AM. If the entire class is present at that time, a star sticker will be given. At the end of the month, the class in each grade level with the most stars will be the keeper of the grade level attendance rocket. We are hoping each class wins multiple times this year! Please see a picture of the chart below.
Volunteer and Chaperone Information
Please be sure to complete and return the orange Volunteer/Chaperone Form if you would like to be considered to be a chaperone for field trips at Rosemont Elem. (Please note that by completing this Form it does not guarantee that you will be a chaperone - depending on the number needed, etc.) All names must be submitted for BCS Board of Education approval.
BCS requires background checks to be completed for those wishing to volunteer and possibly chaperone field trips. Please follow the link to find out information about these background checks and to begin the process if you are interested.
