Course Selection
Students will start to select courses for the 2025-2026 school year on Friday, February 21. A few important reminders:
- Parents can view the courses a student has selected in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
- Just because a student selects a course does not mean that they are guaranteed to have that course on their schedule in the Fall.
- 9th and 10th grade students are required to enroll in 8 classes. 11th and 12th grade students are required to enroll in at least 7 classes.
- Please speak with your student about course selection and encourage them to select courses that align with their goals for life after high school.
- Teachers will recommend core classes, so encourage your student to have thoughtful conversations with their teachers.
- If your student failed a class, make sure they see their counselor to come up with a credit recovery plan.
Nurse's Update
Attention East High School!
Norovirus, otherwise known as “the stomach flu,” is making its way around Laramie County and East High School. Norovirus is spread through touching contaminated surfaces and through close contact with someone who is already sick.
Symptoms of Norovirus Include:
· Stomach cramps
· Watery diarrhea
· Nausea & vomiting
· Fatigue
· Dehydration
To prevent illness, it is important to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Hand sanitizer does not kill norovirus!
If you are sick, please stay home!
East High Blood Drive
"This February, our Student Council is showing our love by hosting our annual Vitalant Blood Drive! During school on Feb. 5, we will be looking for our students, age 16 and older, to donate blood. To participate, have your student stop by an office to fill out a consent form, and have them bring it to the blood drive at school on the 5th. Don't forget to use the QR code to sign up for your time slot!"
New Late Work Policy
The EHS Collaborative Decision Making Team has been working for several months to develop a new Late Work Policy. Learning is hindered if students rush to complete a lot of coursework at the end of a grading period. The new EHS Late Work Policy promotes the progression of learning, establishes clear and consistent expectations, and helps students develop time management and organizational skills.
The new policy will take effect during the second semester:
- Turned in: On or before the due date
Result: Full credit - Turned in: Late but within 10 school days of the due date
Result: Teacher can deduct up to 20% - Turned in: More than 10 school days after the due date
Result: Work will not be accepted
Notes:
- Teachers will notify parents if a student does not turn in an assignment by the due date. This notification will also specify the last date that the work will be accepted.
- Extenuating circumstances will be handled by a principal.
- Deadlines for students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 are outlined in the IEP/504 and will supersede this policy.
- Per board policy:
“Students shall have one attendance day, for each day absent, to complete make-up work. In the event of an absence exceeding one day, the student shall have a proportional number of attendance days to complete the make-up work.”
