Transportation
IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION
A note about transportation: It may take up to 10 days for your student to be able to ride home via a 'bus pass.' If you have questions about your bus stop, please log into power school. If there is a morning bus stop listed, students can ride the bus to school. NHCS will pick up all students and transport them to school. However, If there is no stop listed for the PM (afternoon route) for your student, parents must provide transportation home for the child. Your child will be notified with a bus pass once an afternoon route has been established. Additionally, you can check the NHCS Transportation Website to find the stop and time closest to your house. If you have questions about transportation, please contact Williston Assistant Principal, Jeff Swanson at jeff.swanson@nhcs.net.
Digital Learning Dashboard Parent Survey
North Carolina General Assembly Session Law 115C-102.9 requires for the collection and reporting of data regarding all student's access to digital devices and internet access at home. The data collection is part of the annual North Carolina Digital Learning and Media Inventory (NCDLMI) process. The Digital Device survey is new this year and is housed in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
The survey may be accessed by signing in to Parent Portal in PowerSchool, where parents will see the Digital Device Survey link at the bottom left of the Navigation toolbar.
Please know that it is an optional survey to complete but we hope to gather as many responses as possible.
Parents are encouraged to direct questions to their individual schools. We appreciate the support of parents in helping gather information to help support the digital teaching and learning needs of our students and teachers. This information gained from the survey will be used to help target areas of need and ensure that all of our students have adequate access to devices and the internet to access learning. The information gathered will be kept private and confidential.
NOTE: Unfortunately, this survey cannot be completed in the PowerSchool Parent Portal App. It may be completed it on a computer or a web browser on your phone or device.
Say Something!
New Hanover County Schools is partnered with the Say Something Anonymous Reporting program to provide our students with a safe, responsive way to seek help for themselves and others.
Say Something is a youth violence prevention program from Sandy Hook Promise β a national violence prevention organization. Say Something Anonymous Reporting System allows youth and adults to submit secure & anonymous safety concerns to help identify and intervene upon at-risk individuals BEFORE they hurt themselves or others. The system enables school administrators and law enforcement to create effective interventions and to help prevent violence, suicide, bullying, self-harm and other forms of threatening behavior.
With the Anonymous Reporting System, itβs easy and completely confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.
