Only Juniors Report to School on Tuesday, 3/12/24 for ACT!
ALL OTHER GRADES (9th, 10th & 12th) ARE VIRTUAL.
Dear High School Parents & Guardians:
On Tuesday, March 12, 2024 only 11th grade students will be required to physically attend school as we will be administering the ACT. All other high school students (grades 9th, 10th, and 12th) will attend school virtually on this day. Every 11th grade learner in the state is required to take the ACT (providing valuable data to ensure student success after high school) on Tuesday, March 12, 2024.
In addition, on March 19, 2024, all Freshman and Sophomore students will report to school for the PreACT. On March 19th, all Juniors and Seniors will participate in asynchronous (online) learning. Most Freshmen and Sophomore students will be done testing by 11:20 am. Lunch will be available after testing. At 11:50 am, transportation home will be available for any student who is done testing and does not have a ride home. If your student needs transportation home at 11:50 am, please fill out this Google Form by noon on March 11th, 2024. If your student has extended time for testing and will be testing in the afternoon, buses will run as normal at the end of the day.
In order to meet ACT and PreACT requirements teachers must be redistributed, class size and arrangement restrictions met, hallway traffic monitored, building areas blocked off, bells and announcements suspended, and lunch periods altered. These necessary modifications impact the learning of over non-test takers creating a need for flexibility in the schedule on the testing day.
East Troy High School will ensure the continued learning of non-test takers by using Virtual Learning Days, as other districts have done nationally. Our intent in using Virtual Learning Days is to provide East Troy learners with an opportunity to engage in quality learning on days they cannot be physically present in the school building, while also meeting state attendance requirements. Virtual learners (the non-testing students) will attend school virtually on the test days through technology-based programs such as Google Classroom. Learners who engage virtually, providing evidence of learning, will be marked “present.”
Staff will be communicating with students regarding virtual learning and expectations of Virtual Learning Days when we begin our new trimester on Thursday, March 7, 2024. The high school library will be open for students who do not have WIFI access at home.
We thank you for your ongoing support of our students as we continue to use innovative practices that support student learning.
Thank you,
Stacey Kuehn
East Troy High School Principal
