We hope everyone had a wonderful, restful Thanksgiving week. It’s hard to believe that we have our winter break in only two more weeks; the days seem to fly by. We had a busy week of Dibels and MAP testing. We enjoyed our mystery reader this week, AJ’s dad. He read Lucille Colandro’s There Was A Cold Lady Who Swallowed Some Snow. We have tested quite a few students on their red rainbow words and some have also tested the yellow rainbow words. Please help your child study these words so they can be tested. We want all students to at least have the red rainbow words complete by our winter break. Also, please continue to listen to your child read every night.
We hope you all have a nice, warm weekend!

We’ve had a wonderful week full of learning and fun! The students participated in activities that helped them identify key details in a text and answer questions about stories. They’ve been working hard and making great progress!
A big thank you to Valentino's mom, Ms. Victoria, for joining our class and reading the beautiful book "Daniela Y Mateo Viajan a Argentina." The students absolutely loved learning about Argentina’s culture, food, places, and music. It was an enriching experience for everyone!
This week:
Reading: The students listened to stories and, with support, identified the main idea and details.
Writing: The students wrote or drew details about a story to support the main idea of the story.
Language: The students learned the features of simple sentences, including the use of capital letters and periods.
Math: The students solved Compare, Difference Unknown problems, reinforcing their understanding of the relationship between addition and subtraction.
Science: The students continued learning about the water cycle.
Next week:
Reading: Using a text, the students will practice identifying key features of a sentence (first word, capitalization, and ending punctuation). They will circle the first word, underline the capital letter, and box the punctuation mark. Also, we will correct sentences by adding the correct punctuation, spaces between words, and capitalization of the first word and names.
Writing: With support from the teacher, the students will describe a known object or event and then add a drawing to clarify their description.
Language: The students will practice greeting others and sharing their feelings.
Math: The students will solve and compare a variety of problem types, write equations to represent problems, and make sense of equations with a symbol for the unknown. They will also reason in the other direction: writing stories and questions that correspond to given equations, and using drawings, numbers, and words to find the answers.
Science: The students will write a short definition of each of the stages involved in the water cycle.
