A Message from the Superintendent
Soak Up Some Sun 😎
Dear ACPS Families, Students and Staff,
Happy summer! As always, thank you for an AMAZING school year. Just a quick note to wish you all a safe, happy and fun summer. And, as you soak up the sun over the next few weeks, please remember to wear sunscreen!
One last note for families — please make sure your students are up-to-date on their vaccinations as we look forward to the next school year. Some vaccines require a schedule to administer and as the summer goes on, doctor's offices and pharmacies will begin to fill up appointment slots. Required vaccinations for preschool and kindergarten can be found on the Virginia Department of Health website (en español), as well as required vaccinations for rising 7th (en español) and rising 12th graders (en español).
Wishing you a great summer,
Matthew S. Haas
Superintendent

Did You Know?
Did you know that each year, June is celebrated as Pride Month to commemorate the catalyst event of the 1969 Stonewall riots and works to achieve equal justice and equal opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community? This year, the Albemarle County School Board read a proclamation at its June 13, 2024, meeting to recognize Pride Month. Read the proclamation on our website.
Opportunities for You!
Again this summer, Albemarle County Public Schools and Charlottesville City Schools are joining forces with several community organizations to provide free school supplies and backpacks to students! We hope you can join us for our annual Back to School Bash on Saturday, August 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ting Pavilion in Downtown Charlottesville.
