Next week marks the end of the first marking period and Spirit Week! We would appreciate it if you and your Husky take a look at Skyward over the weekend so that you can discuss any missing assignments and/or poor grades. Sometimes missing work ends up in folders or backpacks and it's a shame that grades are affected unnecessarily when all it takes is turning in an assignment. Friday (the 29th) is a half day. Teachers use the afternoon to begin the process of getting report cards completed. Report cards are sent home on November 11th.

Spirit Week is a fan favorite each year! Our middle school Student Leadership class determines the themes for the week along with their teacher, Miss Katie Klimaszewski. We are grateful to the class for planning Spirit Week and overseeing the Penny Drive Challenge! It's great to be a Husky!

Social Media

Schools around the nation, and certainly Holly Academy, are dealing with the impact and implications of students' dependence on social media. Our students take their social cues from what they see on social media sites. This is so troubling when so much of what they see is disrespectful and can be alarming in nature. PLEASE monitor your child's access to social media and put devices away at bedtime. Many of our students cannot stay awake in the morning because they have been on their devices long into the night. Others have anxiety around what they consider their inadequacy compared to what they observe on social media. Together, we can work toward healthy choices for our Huskies! Power of the Pack!

Holly Academy runs a rigorous academic program. Due to the various learning modes throughout the last year and a half (face-to-face learning, virtual learning, and blended learning), some of our students are not as used to the pace of our rigorous program. We are working through these obstacles and want to partner with parents to increase student stamina. We appreciate your support of our education program.

Attending school on a daily basis is extremely important. Please keep in mind, if your family will be on vacation or gone for an extended period of time, it is best to notify your child's teacher ahead of time and request some of the work your child will be missing. This helps prevent your child being overwhelmed when they return to school.

Spirit Week

We are excited for Spirit Week next week! Students may dress down if they follow the theme. This is definitely an annual favorite!

**Please no costumes during Spirit Week**

Penny Drive

Grade levels will compete to collect the greatest number of pennies. Nickels, dimes, and quarters are worth negative points, so you can put them in competing grade levels' bins! The Penny Drive will take place every morning in the building lobbies. Grades Y5-2, 3-5, and 6-8 will compete against each other and winning grade levels will receive an ice cream party!
