7 Days Away
Now is a great time to begin having conversations with your scholar about their new school year? What are their goals? What are they excited about? How will this year be different and better than last year?
It is also a great time to begin resetting bed times to an earlier hour so that students can get used to waking up every morning to be on time for school.
Students who are present and on time for the first three days of school will be invited to our ice cream social on Friday, August 18th at 2:00 PM.
Please note: School begins at 8:40 AM daily, and students are considered tardy by 8:41.
Want S'More
Your child's new teacher will be reaching out to you this Friday for some introductions. If you are working, or unavailable to speak, we ask that you text the teacher back with a good time to reach you as well as your email address. You will begin receiving S'More newsletters from your child's teacher August 18, 2023!
Got Sleep?
During sleep, our children's brains have an opportunity to rest and recover from processing all of the day's events. Their immune systems work while they are sleeping to fight off colds and flu viruses. Finally, their little digestive systems process and deliver nutrients to all of their tissues and muscles, all while they are sleeping.
These processes require a minimum of 8-10 hours every night so that your child will wake up refreshed and ready to take on a new day.
See the chart below for some helpful guidelines for sleep schedules for children.

Uniforms
We wear uniforms at our school so that our focus can remain on increasing our learning and building authentic friendships.
Our uniforms help us to stay focused on what really matters at school because we don't have to spend time deciding what to wear every day. We know that our blue and white is always alright!
Uniform pieces are available at:
-Walmart (starting at $9.98/pair and $7.98/shirt)
-Old Navy (starting at $15/pair with a ONE YEAR GUARANTEE and $6/shirt)
-JC Penney (various prices, use code BEDDING at checkout)
Students who are in full uniform every day (top and bottoms) will be rewarded at our Friday PBIS assembly.
School Meals
Students are welcomed to bring their own breakfast or lunch from home, too. Carver school endorses SFUSD's healthy food guidelines and encourage families to do so as well.
We discourage DoorDash or Ubereats deliveries for children at lunch. Carver staff will not be able to intercept and handle food from app deliveries for children. This is for safety purposes, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Please note: Carver School is PEANUT FREE school due to the large number of severe peanut allergies we have on site. If your child inadvertently brings a peanut product to school, the food item will be held in the office in a paper bag with your child's name on it. Your child may retrieve the item when they are leaving campus for the day.
Updated Emergency Cards
Classes who have a 100% return rate on all forms will receive a special party from Mrs. White!
Every Minute Counts
Please schedule all doctor/dentist appointments outside of school hours as best as you can. If your child has an appointment during the school day, please bring a note from your care provider in order to excuse the time missed in school.
