Third grade students are working on multiplication fact fluency. A variety of strategies are being used to help contribute to students’ ability to solve more difficult problems quicker and more accurately. By developing fact fluency, it is our hope that students will gain more success in future math opportunities. Strategies in the classroom being used are: flash cards, fluency assessments, game-based play, songs, repeated patterns, array building, etc.

It’s time to order the 2022-2023 WC Petty yearbook.

We have TWO volunteer opportunities coming up! Please consider donating an hour of your time.

1. Kids Holiday Shop (Dec 7-9) - Volunteers are needed during the school day to help students shop and wrap presents. We could also use some volunteers for set up on Dec 5. Sign up to volunteer at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0d4eada828aafec52-holiday3

2. Holiday Bazaar (Dec 10) - Volunteers are needed to help at various areas during our event including Santa, Bake Sale/Concessions, Crafts, Cookie Decorating, Kids Holiday Shop and more. iPad Information

Parent reminders regarding the new iPads:

• Stickers and/or labels should not be placed on the iPad or chargers.

• If there is an issue and an item is not working, please contact your building administrator to get a replacement as soon as possible.

• Please help with the expectation of having the iPad charged once the student comes to school. It is very important that the student has a charged iPad so that class and instruction time isn’t lost accomplishing this task.

• If possible, help show your student how to plug and unplug headphones in the headphone jack. The Technology Department has had numerous issues with broken plugs in the headphone jacks.

• Please remind your student that the iPads are for school use, not personal use. They should not be used for taking personal pictures outside of school.

• The iPads should be used for school-related work at home, not watching YouTube videos. YouTube can be a valuable educational tool when used appropriately. Please help us monitor this tool so that we can continue to utilize the value of it and not have the negative aspects.

Common Sense Media is a great source for parents to help teach their students about proper technology use and how to keep them safe using the internet. Antioch CCSD 34 uses some of the resources from this website as well to help with digital citizenship.
