February Cornerstone: Teamwork
Since I showed love to Kansas City last week, here's some for the Eagles before next week's Superbowl rematch.
In the last game of the regular season, Saquon Barkley, the all-pro running back who joined the Eagles this year, was on the verge of breaking the single-season rushing record. The Eagles second-place seed in the NFC playoffs was locked and the game against the Cowboys was meaningless, except for Saquon's opportunity to break the record. This record has not been broken in 40 years.
Head coach Nick Sirianni approached Saquon to ask whether he wanted to play to have the chance to set a new record, or if he would be okay sitting out to avoid the risk of getting injured right before the playoffs.
As much as he wanted the record, Saquon put the team's goal of winning the Superbowl above his own personal desire. He chose to sit out the game, telling Sirianni, "It's all good. I'd rather see the young boys eat."
That mindset, to sacrifice our own self interest to accomplish more as a team, to give ourselves to something bigger, is the heart of teamwork.
And dang it, now I don't know who to cheer for in the Superbowl.
We sincerely appreciate your time and dedication in attending parent-teacher conferences this week. Your involvement and partnership play a crucial role in your child's educational journey.
Collaboration between teachers and parents is essential in fostering student success. When we work together, we create a supportive environment that nurtures growth, encourages achievement, and builds confidence in our students. Your insights and support help us better understand and meet the unique needs of each child, ensuring they receive the best possible learning experience.
Thank you for your continued support, commitment, and engagement. We truly value your partnership in your child's education and look forward to working together throughout the school year.
Next Week's Schedule
Open Enrollment Applications for Next School Year
The online application form (d93.org/3010F1) to open enroll at a different school is now open for next school year. Applications received by February 1st will be given priority consideration. If your child is currently attending a school on an approved open enrollment form, you do not need to submit a new form for them. They will continue to attend that school unless the school principal notifies you that the approval for their open enrollment has been withdrawn.
