COME ONE, COME ALL....TO THE GREATEST SCHOOL OF ALL!!
Jill Fletcher, Principal & Jill Geran, Assistant Principal
Principal's Message
As we progress through the school year, we want to remind you of the importance of our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences (Oct 22nd & 24th). These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for us to discuss your child’s academic progress, personal development, and any challenges they may be facing. We believe that a strong partnership between parents and teachers is essential for your child’s success. Your involvement plays a critical role in your child's academic journey, and we encourage you to prioritize this opportunity to connect with their teacher. Please make sure you have a conference scheduled. If you have any conflicts, we are happy to arrange an alternative meeting day/time to accommodate your schedule. Thank you for your ongoing support. Together, we can ensure your child has a successful school year.
Safety First
At Eastside, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is our top priority. We understand that feeling safe at school is essential for students to learn and thrive, and we want to assure you that we are taking several important measures to ensure the safety of everyone on campus. Here are just a few of the ways we are keeping students and staff safe:
-Secure Campus: Our school has implemented security measures such as locked doors, secure entry points, and surveillance cameras to monitor activity throughout the day. All visitors are required to check in at the front office and wear identification badges while on campus.
-Safety Drills: We regularly conduct fire, tornado and lockdown drills. These drills ensure that students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and effectively in case of an emergency.
-Anti-Bullying Efforts: We are committed to fostering a positive and respectful school culture. Our anti-bullying stance and behavior expectations are in place to ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
-Mental Health Support: Emotional well-being is an essential part of safety. Our staff works closely with students to help them manage stress, resolve conflicts, and develop healthy coping strategies.
-Health and Hygiene Protocols: To maintain a healthy environment, we continue to follow hygiene practices, such as frequent hand washing, routine cleaning of classrooms and common areas, and encouraging students to stay home if they are feeling unwell.
-Partnership with Local Authorities: We work closely with local law enforcement and emergency services to stay informed and prepared for any potential safety threats. Our school resource officer (Lieutenant Hughes) helps maintain a visible and proactive safety presence on campus.
We are committed to working together as a school community to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming environment where your child can learn and grow. If you have any questions or concerns about our safety measures, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.

CAPTURING KIDS' HEARTS
Character Word for October: Self-Direct (think-choose-act)
Please join us, as Eastside students and staff study the word: self-direct.
What does self-direct mean?
"Self-direct" for students refers to a learning or activity approach where they can take the lead in their own development. Instead of being guided or instructed by an adult, students make decisions about what they want to learn, how they want to do it, and when they want to engage in certain tasks. This encourages autonomy, creativity, and responsibility, allowing them to follow their interests, experiment with ideas, and learn at their own pace.
In a self-directed environment, students often gain skills in problem-solving, time management, and self-motivation because they have more ownership over their learning journey. It fosters a sense of independence and curiosity.
Eastside Behavior Matrix
Our Eastside Behavior Matrix is a tool used to define expected behaviors in various settings throughout the school environment. The matrix helps foster a positive, predictable, and safe environment, which enhances learning by promoting consistent behavior throughout the school day.
