The Riverwalk Roar
The Riverwalk Roar: December 1, 2024
Happy Sunday, Pride!
As the Head of School, I deeply value the hard work of our staff, students, and families. Your commitment to supporting your children and our school makes all the difference, and I’m grateful for each of you. This fall, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing some incredible moments, and I want to highlight a few blessings for which I am especially thankful:
New Leadership
It has been inspiring to see parents stepping up to take on leadership roles within our school community. Likewise, staff members have embraced new responsibilities, showcasing their dedication and talent. I continue to be impressed by our new hires who have made a meaningful impact, and I’m equally grateful to our veteran team members who embody the spirit of collective leadership—proving that everyone, regardless of title, can lead and inspire. Together, we are building an even stronger Riverwalk Academy.
Extra Effort
Many of our staff have gone above and beyond this year, overcoming challenges to earn certifications, complete coursework, and refine their teaching strategies. Their hard work directly benefits our students and reflects their unwavering dedication to excellence. Parents, I see the same commitment from you as you pour your energy into supporting your children and our community. These combined efforts are truly remarkable.
Amazing Students
Our students never cease to amaze me. This fall, we celebrated a student achieving perfect scores on the statewide assessment, another representing Riverwalk overseas at the Real Madrid Training Facility in Spain, and our boys’ cross-country team earning the title of State 1A Champions. We also had a student selected for the Catawba River Winds Middle School Honors Band. Beyond these accolades, our students shine on stage in local productions, volunteer in the community, and care for others in countless ways. Their achievements are a testament to the incredible guidance and support they receive from all of you.
It is a true privilege to serve as Head of School for this extraordinary community. Your dedication, resilience, and kindness inspire me daily. I am honored to work alongside such amazing students, staff, and families. Together, we are creating something truly special.
In Pride and Purpose,
~Dr. Compton
This week's Photo of the Week captures Dr. Compton taking a break from his busy day to enjoy lunch with Ms. Lahr's 2nd grade class. He had a great time chatting with Killian during their meal. Moments like these remind us of the strong connections that make Riverwalk Academy so special!
