The Importance of Attendance: Every Day Counts!
Dear RedHawk Parents and Guardians,
At Wredling, we are committed to providing your child with the best educational experience possible, and one key factor in their success is consistent attendance. Being at school every day—and on time—sets the foundation for academic achievement, social growth, and future success.
When students miss school or arrive late, they miss out on important lessons, discussions, and activities that are essential for their learning. Even being a few minutes late can disrupt their routine and make it harder to catch up. By arriving on time, students start their day with focus and a positive mindset, ready to engage with their teachers and classmates.
Here’s why attendance is so important:
- Academic Progress: Regular attendance ensures that students stay on track with their learning, building the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
- Social Development: Being present at school helps students build friendships, develop communication skills, and be part of the school community.
- Preparation for the Future: Developing good attendance habits now will help students in high school, college, and their future careers.
We understand that life happens, and there are times when illness or emergencies prevent your child from attending school. However, we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible and to help your child understand the value of being present and on time.
If you’re having any challenges with attendance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We’re here to support you in making sure your child has the best chance for success!
Thank you for your partnership in your child’s education. Together, we can ensure that every day is a step toward a bright future!
Enjoy your weekend!

WMS TEAM DAY - SEPTEMBER 24th
Next Tuesday, September 24th we will be having our first Team Day for this school year. We use this time to promote team building through participation in a variety of fun activities run by each team of teachers. We strongly encourage students to be in attendance for team day.
Included here is the bell schedule for that day which will be a condensed schedule of class periods with Team Time beginning at 1:02 PM. If you need to pick up your child early on this date, please do so prior to our move into Team Time. It is very difficult to pull a student during Team Time as each team follows its own schedule of activities utilizing a variety of locations . It can take a significant time to locate which area a student is in at a specific time, have them get their belongings, and to the office.
Please help us out by following our plan for early dismissal. If you plan to pull your child from school to send your child to the main office with a note first thing in the morning.
The note should include the following:
Name of Student
ID#
Planned Pick Up Time
Who’s picking up the student (they will need to bring their driver’s license at pick-up)
The office will generate a digital hall pass for your student 5 minutes before your planned pickup time. This will allow them to inform their teacher they have a pass and come to the office for pickup.
If your child will be absent, please be sure to call the WMS attendance line to let us know.
Tuesday, September 24th - Don't miss this event!
Although pre-registration is closed, you are welcome to show up to register at 3:00 pm on the day of the event. The cost will be $35 per person. While we don't guarantee you will get a t-shirt that day, you will still get all the FUN!!!
The Color Palooza is held right after school from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM. This will be the ONLY after school activity on this date.

- Check out our promo video!
The Color Palooza is a fun and unique event that's all about letting loose, having fun, and enjoying the experience with friends and family.

Fall Reading Book Fair!:
We are pleased to announce the Anderson Book Fair is coming to Wredling Middle School from October 2-10!

Oct. 3rd - 8th: 7:30-3:30
Oct. 9th: 7:30-2:00
Oct. 10th: 8:15 AM - 8:00 PM (during Parent/Teacher Conferences)

The sign‐up portal for Parent-Teacher will open beginning later this month. We will be using Pick-A-Time again this year.
The Pick-A-Time portal will open FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 27th at 8:00 am
It will promptly close MONDAY, OCTOBER 4th at 11:59 PM. This is a hard deadline. Once the portal closes parents will not be able to schedule a time for these conference dates.
Instead of larger group, or “team” meetings, conferences will be held with individual teachers. All conferences will be held either Zoom or in person, and each conference will be eight minutes long with a four minute transition.

Be sure to ONLY choose Q1 (first quarter) teachers!
A few notes about sign-up:
Parents should not feel obligated to sign-up for conferences. If your child is doing well at school, both academically and socially, then you might choose not to have a conference. (It does not make you a bad parent not to sign-up for conferences!) If your child is struggling, we would suggest that you do come to conferences!
You might only feel the need to meet one or a few teachers. There is no obligation to meet every teacher.
If you wish to visit the explore teachers, please sign-up to visit your child’s first-quarter explore teacher.
You can sign-up for a conference with a teacher only one time. Our student services team (counselors, social workers) will be available for conferences, as well. If you decide you need more time with a teacher, we are always willing to meet with you.
In some cases, a teacher may contact you in advance to set-up a conference time. That means we want to guarantee you a time to meet with your child’s teachers.
When you sign-up, try to sign-up for all conferences in a row. (Do not schedule gap times in the middle or you will be waiting around for a long time!)
You are welcome to have your RedHawks student with you during conferences! It is important that they hear what you hear. They are of the age when they are mature and responsible enough to be part of the conversation whether via Zoom or in-person.
RedHawk Pride Awards
Most weeks we will be handing out some RedHawk Pride Awards. This award is given by our teachers for a variety of reasons, from following our Guidelines for Success to Academic Achievement and Growth. We are proud of our RedHawks who work hard every day.

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As you may have seen, the Kane County Judges are coming to Wredling to present “Worries of the World Wide Web”. Feedback from previous years from parents indicated that it would be helpful for parents to hear this presentation prior to their students to facilitate conversations at home. The judges have graciously agreed to present to parents on Monday, September 30 at 5:30 in the Wredling Cafeteria. This will be the same presentation that your student will hear at the assembly on October 4. We hope you will join us to learn more!
