Not sure which workshop to attend?
The Nov. 7 Summer Learning Project Planning workshop is for library staff who are looking for some extra help with designing their summer learning grant project. At this workshop we’ll discuss what summer learning looks like, how to identify summer learning needs, and go through some design thinking exercises to get the creative juices flowing. Register
The Nov. 20 Connected Learning Project Planning workshop is similar to the Nov. 7th workshop, but will focus on connected learning grant projects instead of summer learning projects. We’ll go through a quick refresher on what connected learning is and what it looks like in a library. We’ll also use design thinking exercises to help people develop their ideas. Register
The Dec. 10 Grant Writing workshop is focused on actually writing the grant. Together as a group we’ll go through the grant application part by part. We’ll help you craft a succinct narrative and answer any questions that come up as we move through the application together. Register

Autism Welcome Here Grant
From Libraries and Autism:
Are you thinking about starting a new program or service at your library for children, teens, or adults with autism? Or perhaps you would like to expand on an existing program if you had more funding? Did you know that many of the adaptations and materials you would provide for someone with autism can also be inclusive of those with other neurodevelopmental needs or developmental delays, such as ADHD or Down syndrome? Consider applying for the “Autism Welcome Here: Library Programs, Services and More” grant: www.librariesandautism.org/grant/. All types of libraries, in the United States or Canada, are encouraged to apply.
Looking for ideas? Check out previous grant winners here: http://www.librariesandautism.org/grant/GrantWinners.htm .
Applications are now being accepted through December 2, 2019.
#eBooksForAll
From Libraries Transform:
Macmillan Publishers has announced a troubling new policy, limiting libraries to purchasing only one copy of each new eBook title for the first eight weeks after a book’s release. This embargo jeopardizes libraries’ ability to promote access to information for all, so the American Library Association is calling on the publisher to reverse course. We’re asking libraries and readers everywhere to join the #eBooksForAll movement and sign our petition to Macmillan CEO John Sargent.
At eBooksForAll.org you can sign the petition and access free tools for getting the word out in your communities. Resources include:
- Social media copy and graphics
- Sample newsletter and e-blast copy
- Media outreach tools such as sample op-eds and letters to the editor
- Printable posters, table tents, and more
