A Message From Our Principal, Mrs. Parduhn
Monroe Families,
We’re off to a fantastic start this school year, and it’s been wonderful to welcome our students back! On the first day, we held an assembly to introduce all staff members, ensuring students know the adults who are here to support them. Students are settling into their classrooms, establishing routines, and making new friends.
A few quick reminders:
Student supervision begins at 8:15 AM.
Upon arrival, students will check in with a staff member and choose either breakfast or the playground.
Students who choose the playground will walk along the path to the back of the building. Staff members are stationed along the way to guide students to their grade-level areas.
If you need to send a message to your child during the school day, please call the main office at 920-663-9550.
Students who have cell phones will follow district policy and keep the phone in their backpack from the time they arrive at school until the time of dismissal. Note: The hallway lockers do not lock so if there is a concern about having a cell phone in the locker please contact your child’s teacher.
Students have been learning about our Monroe School-Wide Expectations. These are things that we all need to do to have a safe school for all of our students. See the example below:
Ask your child what they are learning about in the lunchroom, playground, classroom, etc.
We look forward to a successful school year together!

SFA News
September 2024
Here at Monroe and across the Manitowoc Public School District, we are in our second year of implementing Success for All. This schoolwide program helps children to read, learn and succeed through cooperative learning strategies with the goal of supporting each individual student to higher levels of achievement. To support this process, I am serving as the SFA Facilitator at Monroe Elementary School. My role is to develop program expertise in order to coach & support teacher development and assess & monitor student growth. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns along the way!
During the first two weeks of school, our teachers are teaching Getting Along Together lessons. This component teaches students to develop and use thinking & cognitive skills, emotional-management skills, and interpersonal & social skills. Classrooms have started to introduce the skills needed for active listening, focus, and teamwork. Students in grades 1-5 will begin reading groups on Wednesday, September 18. Look for a letter coming home with more information that day!

Bus Rider Alert!
Parents/Guardians of bus riders we need your help! Did you know that Monore has over 90 students taking 5 different busses home? That is a lot of students to get where they need to go. Bus riding changes can make for confusion at the end of the day. While we understand that emergencies can come up, we do ask that you please keep transportation changes to a minimum. If you do not want your child to take the bus home please let both your child's teacher, as well as the office know. Valuable time is spent searching for students who are not in the bus line. Please don't rely on your child to pass the message along!
Thank you for your help with this !
