Need to Know
'
Report Cards: Report cards were emailed to parents earlier this week from the registrar@selwyn.ca. If you did not receive your son’s report card by email, please contact Kelli Poulin at poulink@selwyn.ca.
Purple Day ~ March 26: Started as a grassroots movement, Purple Day (also known as "The Purple Day Act") is a day dedicated to raising awareness and educating people about epilepsy worldwide. Falling on March 26 every year, it started in 2008 when Cassidy Megan from Canada wanted to share her story and experiences living with epilepsy and end stigmas about it. She chose purple because lavender is the flower recognized for epilepsy. Students are invited to wear a purple shirt in place of their school uniform shirt on Wednesday, March 26 to support Purple Day and raise awareness about epilepsy.
Elementary School Play Choir: The elementary school choir will soon begin preparing music to be sung during the elementary play, Mary Poppins Jr. There will be two performances of the play, one for students during regular school hours and one on the evening of Friday, May 2. Rehearsals will take place once a week during the lunch recess. In order to take part in the play, choir students must be available to come to the school and rehearse on Saturday, April 26 from 9-4. Parents will also need to purchase a costume for them. If your son has not already registered for the choir and is interested in participating in the play as a choir member, please contact Mr. Kennedy at kennedyr@selwyn.ca.
Spring Is Here: Please remember to send your son in with splash pants, rain boots or outdoor shoes. Even on nice days the boys will find the muddiest spots to play in.
Fifth’s Disease Reminder: We ask that parents inform the school of any confirmed contagious disease so that other parents and staff can take the appropriate health measures. Fifth’s disease can be hazardous to pregnant women in their first trimester, and for this reason, it is particularly important that parents report a confirmed case.
QAIS Chess Tournament: The Priory School is hosting the QAIS Chess Tournament, for QAIS elementary students, on Saturday, April 12 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. There is a $35 registration fee. If your son is interested in participating, please contact George Levtchouk (beebee@videotron.ca) by Monday, March 31.
