It's Conference Week...
Our Learning Community...
As we approach conferences, we want to ensure that these meetings are meaningful, productive, and focused on supporting your child’s growth. Here are some helpful tips to make the most of your time with your child’s teacher.
Approaching the Conference with the Right Mindset
Be Open-Minded & Collaborative – Think of the conference as a team effort. We all share the same goal: helping your child succeed.
Stay Positive & Solution-Oriented – If concerns arise, let’s work together to find constructive solutions.
Be Curious & Engaged – This is a great opportunity to gain insight into your child's strengths, progress, and areas for growth.
Remember, It’s a Two-Way Conversation – We value your perspective as parents/guardians and encourage you to share insights about your child’s experiences at home.
To help guide the conversation, here are some questions you may find helpful:
Academic Progress & Growth
What are my child’s strengths in the classroom?
What areas need improvement?
How does my child participate in class discussions and activities?
Is my child performing at grade level? If not, what can we do to support?
Social & Emotional Development
How does my child interact with peers?
Do they seem confident and engaged in class?
Are there any behavioral concerns?
Learning & Study Habits
How does my child approach learning challenges?
Are there any strategies we can use at home to support their learning?
What habits would help my child be more successful in school?
Home-School Connection
How can we reinforce learning at home?
We appreciate your partnership in your child’s education and look forward to discussing their progress. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child grow and thrive!
Remember...
Coach Jensen's Corner...
One of the PE standards we work on in class is social skills through movement. PE can help students develop the social skills necessary to exhibit empathy and respect for others as well as foster and maintain friendships. In addition, students develop skills for communication, leadership, cultural awareness, and conflict resolution. You might be wondering what this looks or sounds like in PE class. Here are a few examples, students encouraging others and recognizing the feelings of others during physical activity. Also, students demonstrating respectful behaviors that contribute to a positive social interaction during a PE activity. Social skills are such an important part of our Jones PE program, and we will continue to work on them throughout the school year.
We are having so much fun in dance class. We started off with practicing our best Michael Jackson moves including the toe stand, shuffle, kick, and moonwalk (using paper plates to help us slide). Now we have moved on to country line dancing, including the Achy Breaky Heart. I want to thank all the families who might have jumped in and danced with us at the Cali-Q BBQ, that was super fun!
Stay active – Coach Jensen
Exciting Attendance News...
Highlights from Last Week...
If it is a Monday or Thursday morning you will find us at IMPACT!
The IMPACT stations target different physical skills like agility, balance, strength, and coordination.
The short bursts of activity promotes fitness through building cardiovascular and muscle endurance.
Celebrating classrooms and students at our Leadership Spotlight Ceremony for the Leader in Me Habit #6 Synergize!
Synergizing is all about working together to achieve more. It encourages students to value differences, collaborate effectively, and find creative solutions through teamwork.
The key idea is that "together is better." When people with different strengths and perspectives work together, they can accomplish more than they could alone.
The San Diego County Office of Education in partnership with the Classroom of the Future Foundation hosted a Salute to Purple Star Schools event at SeaWorld.
Jones Elementary was recognized during the celebration which included guest speakers from local military leadership, county leadership, and military connected students.
Many San Diego Unified leaders came together to highlight our district's dedication to supporting and addressing the unique challenges faced by military families.
