Student of the Week of 11-18-24 for K-6
Miss Pavey has chosen Olen Payment as the Newberry Elementary School student of the week. Olen is the son of Matt and Jess Payment and an older brother to his two younger sisters. He has been selected because of his friendly attitude and his passion for learning. Olen comes to school every morning with a smile on his face and motivates his peers to do the same. Olen always gives 100% effort when completing his schoolwork and is a wonderful role model for his classmates. When he is not in school, Olen enjoys watching the Detroit Lions and hunting with his family. Congratulations Olen and thank you for all of your hard work! Keep it up!

Self image is the belief and attitude we have towards ourselves. It can be formed by our past experiences, whether those be successes or failures, and other people’s opinions of us. Self image matters because it affects our behavior. Students with a low self image have a more difficult time in school, social situations and resisting peer pressure. It’s important for students to improve their self
image and raise their confidence.
These students are more successful, do better in school, have more friends, and are less likely to smoke, drink, use drugs or engage in unhealthy activities. Through Botvins Lifeskills Training, students are taught different ways to improve their self image and self esteem. One way is to identify strengths and weaknesses, and work on improving those weaknesses. Another is to set realistic and manageable goals and work towards achieving them. Both are ways to raise confidence and help for a better self image and a better future. LifeSkillsTraining.com
