Monday Message: 8/26/2024

Dear PYLUSD Community,

As we eagerly prepare to kick off the 2024-2025 school year, I want to extend a warm welcome back to all of you. Our dedicated team of administrators, teachers, and staff is committed to our mission of Putting Kids First. We are excited to offer innovative, rigorous, and relevant educational experiences that inspire every student each day, paving the way for a bright future in our district.

This year, we’re enhancing our early childhood education with a $1 million grant, enabling us to provide high-quality state preschool programs that support language and cognitive development. We’re also opening our second Family Resource Center at Melrose Elementary, further enhancing our support network.

We’re excited to introduce two new programs: the Universal Sports Institute and the Orange County School of Computer Science at Bernardo Yorba. The Universal Sports Institute will offer a comprehensive development experience for students in grades 3-12, while the Orange County School of Computer Science will provide cutting-edge training in programming and game design for students in grades 6-8.

We invite you to join us for the 2nd Annual PYLUSD State of the District Address on September 17, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Performing Arts Center. Tickets are available online, with 100% of the proceeds going toward the REACH Foundation, and the event will also be live-streamed.

To our families, thank you for entrusting us with your students and for your invaluable support and partnership. Your support at home and in the community fuels the achievements we will celebrate together this year and beyond.

Lastly, I will continue to host community advisory committees this school year to discuss district plans and gather valuable feedback from parents and guardians. The committees will meet online via Zoom every two months, divided into groups for elementary school, secondary school, and special education parents and guardians. I encourage you to apply for our community advisory committees HERE to share your feedback and help shape our district’s future.

Attention Seniors & Juniors: Are you looking to work with children in a family-friendly environment? If you're interested in supporting and mentoring students after school, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District is hiring After-School Expanded Learning Staff!

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience working with children while providing general supervision in our after-school programs across 21 elementary schools. You'll help organize and support outdoor games and activities, build leadership skills, and enjoy flexible shift hours with every weekend and holiday off.

Emails, Text Messages, & Phone Calls

Families are automatically signed up to receive emails, text messages, and phone calls from the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District, as well as their respective school(s).

It is important for parents and guardians to keep their current, primary email addresses and phone numbers up-to-date in the Aeries Parent Portal. In case of an emergency, PYLUSD may send detailed information to families through emails, text messages, and/or phone calls. Please do not unsubscribe.
