PTO Updates
The PTO’s first fundraiser of the year has been a huge success so far! As of September 3rd, we are at 48.45% of our goal! The money raised will be used towards new playground equipment, so help us reach our goal by sharing your unique link with family and friends! If we reach 100% of our goal, the whole school will be treated to an Ice Cream Party! We appreciate your support!

Notes from Nurse David
“A physically active child is a healthy child”
Exercise is vital to the health and well-being of children. Physical activity helps build and
maintain healthy bones, muscles, and joints. It can help keep a healthy body mass index and
reduce the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease later in life. Being active also
helps a child fall asleep quickly and sleep well at night time. Physical activity also boosts a
child’s mental and behavioral health.
Here are 11 ways/tips to getting started:
1. Talk with your child’s doctor. Your child’s doctor can help your child learn why physical
activity is important.
2. Emphasize fun. The more your child enjoys the activity the more likely they are to
continue with it.
3. Choose developmentally appropriate activities. A 5-year-old isn’t ready for a 3 mile run
around a track but can sure get plenty of running in at a playground!
4. Plan ahead. Make sure there is plenty of time and a convenient place for the activity.
5. Provide a safe environment. Make sure the equipment and where they are playing is
safe. Wearing appropriate clothing is important too.
6. Provide active toys. Young children especially need easy access to balls, jump ropes, and
other active toys.
7. Be a role model. Children who regularly see their parents enjoying sports or physical
activity are more likely to be active themselves.
8. Play with your children. Help them learn a new sport or activity and then have fun
playing it with them!
9. Set limits. Limit “screen” time each day and try to use free time for active play.
10. Make time for exercise/active play. Sometimes finding time is a challenge with the busy
families all have. Be creative and set aside time if possible.
11. Do not overdo activity. Exercise and physical activity shouldn’t hurt. Have your child
slow down, take rest breaks, or try a less vigorous activity if they are complaining of pain
or discomfort.
Now enjoy this nice weather in an active way!! Please feel free to share any fun pictures of your
child being active with us here at the school. We will post the pictures on the bulletin board in
the gym hallway. Send pictures to Nurse David – dshassere@kingslocal.net.
Safety & Security
Thank you for staying behind the blue line at drop off and dismissal! This allows for better visibility for teachers to see children entering into their care and releasing them back into your care. We also have our very own resource officer, Officer Barker, to help keep us safe!
We appreciate everyone's efforts to keep children and staff safe and secure!
