As an additional after school option for interested campuses, Plano ISD is proud to partner with Girls Who Code to provide free, flexible and inclusive CS opportunities all across our community, and would love for you to host a Club!

Girls Who Code Clubs provide completely FREE plug-and-play curriculum and resources for educators to encourage girls’ participation in STEM as they prepare for college and career. In each Club, 3rd-5th and 6th-12th grade girls build important life skills as they join a sisterhood of supportive peers and role models and learn how to use computer science to positively impact their community. Students also learn about inspiring female role models in tech to help increase female representation in our STEM programming. Boys are welcome to be a part of these clubs as well.

To start your own Club, visit the Girls Who Code Clubs website and click “Start a Club” to fill out your quick Clubs application and indicate your affiliation with Plano ISD to get access to our partnership benefits, like additional support and funding opportunities! Note: As a new requirement of our Plano ISD partnership, all Girls Who Code Funds must be the Mr. SnackBox option.

Once you fill out the form, you'll get approved within a few days typically so that you can access the curriculum and be assigned a virtual Girls Who Code Club Success Specialist to help you get started. Plano ISD is opening an exciting new program, Industries Academy, at the new Collin College Technical Campus this August for 11th and 12th graders. If you are interested, please come to hear a presentation and many more details on Tuesday Feb 25 at Plano Senior High (2200 Independence Pkwy, Plano, TX 75075), Lecture Hall (Building B) at 6:30 PM, or at the PISD Administration building (2700 W. 15th St. Plano, TX 75075) in the first floor Board Room Thursday Feb 27 at 6:30 PM. Our Social Emotional Campus Facilitator, Meredith Smith, has created a mindfulness space in the library for students, faculty, and staff. This space is designed to help manage emotions one may be experiencing during the day. It will be a quiet space with multiple coping methods to help manage emotions that may be overwhelming for students. If a student asks to utilize the space, they must first obtain a special pass from their teacher. The teacher will notify our lead counselor of the student and we will follow-up with the student before the end of the day. We will have books, coloring books, journals, soft music, and other coping methods to help those utilize that space to decompress. There will also be a supervising adult close by and a counselor on call.
