Fisher Family Update
December 6, 2024

Dear Fisher Families,
This week, for the second year, we welcomed Walpole High School student mentors back to Fisher School! The mentors will be working with our elementary students to support learning and growth. Mentors might be reading with small groups of students, supporting students’ learning in math and practice grade level skills or helping out with other classroom activities, enhancing student learning. Our partnership with WHS has provided a wonderful opportunity for Fisher students to build relationships with positive role models, gain additional support, and engage in collaborative learning experiences. The mentors will visit every other Wednesday, and we are looking forward to the enthusiasm and energy they will bring to Fisher School and our classrooms!
Have a great weekend,
Brian

Holiday Gift Giving and Holiday Baskets
We are still looking for donations if you are able to contribute. This year, we are organizing Holiday Giving and preparing Holiday Food Baskets for families in need within our community. These baskets are meant to bring joy and provide a little extra comfort during the holiday season.
If you would like to, here are a couple of ways you can help:
Your support will make a difference for so many in our community. Thank you for helping us spread holiday cheer!
Winter is here!
If there is snow on the ground, please remember to send your students to school with snow pants, boots, hats and mittens (don't forget to label them) for recess. They will be unable to play in the snow without them.
Also, we are collecting, good to excellent, used snowpants and boots for students at Fisher. Please think of us if you are doing any closet cleanouts.
Dedham Savings Holiday Card Contest
For more than 25 years the Walpole Elementary Schools has partnered with Dedham Savings Bank and participated in their Holiday Card Contest. Though these past years have been a little different we would still like to offer this opportunity to our students. If students would like to participate in the contest, we are asking that this take place at home. Cards will need to be turned in to their classroom teacher not later than Friday, December 13th. Good Luck!
Here are the details:
All cards should be on 8.5 by 11 white paper
On the back of the card, please put the student's name, school, and grade.
The cards need to be returned to school by Friday, December 10th
Below are the generous prizes for each grade donated by the Dedham Savings Bank:
1st Prize $100
2nd Prize $50
3rd Prize $25
Rally Against Cancer Family Update December 2024
As the holidays roll around, I want to let everyone know that our 2025 Fisher’s Finest Rally Against Cancer page is up and running as of today! Here is our link to join the team: Fisher's Finest Rally 2025. We are already off to an incredible start, thanks to our Meadow Farms fundraiser. With sales of over $17,000, we will be receiving a check for 40% to go towards our Fisher’s Finest total. Special thanks to the Lodge family for sharing the link with so many shoppers!
As soon as we return from the winter break, our new Green Monster Wall of Honor will be up in the auditorium hallway, ready for new baseballs to be added. If you are not familiar with our Green Monster Wall, you can see it in the photo at the top of this newsletter, or stop by and see it in person when you visit the school. Donations of any amount can be sent in and a baseball with the name of a loved one, friend, co-worker, neighbor, or anyone you choose will be posted on the “wall.” Photos are also encouraged. A form will be available in January for the baseballs. The wall happens to be across from my classroom, and I am always touched to see students walking by, pausing to look at and talk about those who are on the wall who they know. Perhaps a classmate donated for their grandparent, or a staff member for a student. This puts a face to cancer and makes it real and personal for everyone.
We will also be starting our Change for a Cure in January. This will run until the end of March. Students are encouraged to bring in coins to add to the change jar that will be collected and counted weekly. They are encouraged to do chores around the house to earn money, or bring in the bottle deposit refunds they receive. If Fisher’s Finest is the top fundraising school, the class that donates the most money per student (one of the ways we incorporate math learning into Rally!) earns a private Meet and Greet with the Red Sox player who comes for the visit! They get photos with the player and an autograph! It’s a way we teach our students that every penny counts and no donation is too small to make a difference.
We will also have our very popular My Grandma’s Coffee Cake fundraiser starting in January, with a delivery/pick-up date shortly before February vacation. Order forms for that will go home in early January.
This is going to be a very exciting year for Fisher’s Finest, based on the generosity we have already witnessed from our Fisher family. Enjoy all the fun and excitement that December brings, and we’ll be looking forward to Rallying like champions in January!!!
Thank you all for your amazing continued support of Fisher's Finest!

Once Upon A Mattress
WHS Drama's production of the hit Broadway musical Once Upon A Mattress opens this weekend! Once Upon a Mattress is a whimsical and hilarious story that turns the classic fairy tale of The Princess and the Pea upside down! Princess Winnifred, a bold and unconventional royal, sets out to win the heart of Prince Dauntless and prove she's worthy of becoming a princess. But first, she must pass a test designed by the overbearing Queen Aggravain—who has made it nearly impossible for anyone to marry her son. Filled with catchy songs, charming characters, and plenty of laughs, Once Upon a Mattress is a delightfully quirky story of love, courage, and defying expectations. Perfect for audiences of all ages, this timeless musical promises a fun-filled night of entertainment! Performances are Friday, December 6th at 7PM, and Saturday, December 7th at 2PM and 7PM in the Walpole High School auditorium. Tickets can be purchased online at https://walpoledrama.ludus.com/ and will be sold at the door. We hope to see you there!
