Lincoln's Weekly Bulletin
09.27.2024
Hello Lincoln Families,
Our Cross Country team hosted our first Cross Country Meet. Way to go Panthers! We had a great turnout, and it was wonderful to see our runners compete! Great job to Coach Goodwin and all the parent volunteers!
Lincoln Middle School is partnering with North County Lifeline’s HERE Now program to provide a “Check Your Mood Week,” filled with discussions about emotions and ways to help themselves and their friends.
North County Lifeline will be present in the SOS Signs Suicide® Prevention Program for one 50-minute period starting on Monday, September 30, 2024. Following each presentation, our students will be asked to complete a demographic survey and a card stating whether or not they have questions or concerns regarding the presentation for themselves or for a friend. Those students with questions or concerns will be able to speak with a North County Lifeline staff member and will be referred to their school for additional resources along with North County Lifeline’s assessment. The presentation will only be for our 7th Grade students.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Have a great weekend.

Panorama Survey for Students
Lincoln families,
Between September 30th and October 11th, your students will be taking the Panorama Education Survey. The survey takes 15-20 minutes, and will take place during Advisory class.
Why is this survey important? If we work together to understand and grow our students’ social and emotional learning skills and supports, alongside their academic supports, then our students will:
- Have increased capacity to do well in school and in life
- Feel safe to take risks as learners, thereby learning and growing more
- Build strong and healthy partnerships with teachers and peers
- Cultivate a love of learning, curiosity, and social awareness
If you wish for your student to opt out from this survey, please complete the following document, either in English or Spanish, and submit it to our Lincoln front office.

Pedestrian Safety
WHEN YOU ARE WALKING
Be predictable. Follow the rules of the road and obey signs and signals.
Walk on the sidewalk. If there is no sidewalk and you have to walk on the road, walk facing traffic. Always walk as far from traffic as possible.
Cross at the corner. Cross at crosswalks or intersections wherever possible. This is where drivers expect to see pedestrians.
Stop and look left-right-left. Before crossing the street, pause, then look left-right-then left again until no cars are coming.
Make eye contact. Never assume drivers see you. Make eye contact with drivers as they approach you and make sure you are seen.
Keep your eyes up, ears open, and off your phone. Don’t talk/text or listen to music when crossing the street.
Be safe. Be seen. Wear bright clothing during the day. At night, wear reflective material or carry a light. This will caution drivers to be careful because they can see someone walking ahead.
WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING
Drive alert. Look for pedestrians – expect to see them at corners and marked crossings. Stop for them when they cross the street.
Slow down. The faster you’re going, the longer it takes to react and brake. Slow down when you’re in an area where pedestrians are likely to be.
Never pass a car stopped for pedestrians – it’s against the law, and it’s highly dangerous for those crossing the street. Never pass a vehicle stopped at a crosswalk. There may be people crossing that you can’t see.
Be extra cautious when backing up – pedestrians can walk into your path.
Avoid distractions. The call/text/tweet can wait. Don’t let your phone or anything else distract you from focusing on the road and those around you.

Chromebook Cases and Insurance
Take Care of Our New Devices!
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Chromebook Cases
OUSD has invested in student Chromebooks with superior features and capabilities. To protect these more expensive devices, covers were provided to mitigate the large number of repairs from last year. District-provided covers must remain on Chromebooks at all times or students may be fined $30 for a replacement. See the linked document for more information.
The window for families to purchase the Device Protection Plan is now open. We highly recommend families take advantage of this plan. The plan is only $20 and typical repairs for the new Chromebooks range from $100-$350. Purchasing the plan is much simpler than it was before. Payments can be made online with a credit card or electronic check at www.myschoolbucks.com. More information can be found on the ITS webpage under Student Chromebook Program.
