Masks are not required for students, teachers, or staff. However, unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to wear masks to help keep everyone safe and healthy. Conversations will occur in our classrooms to promote tolerance and acceptance for students’ choices, regardless of their decision to wear or not wear a mask.

Have you filled out a free and reduced meal application for the 2021-2022 school year? If you haven’t, please take a few moments to fill out the application today. While meals are free to all students due to the pandemic, the information collected on the free and reduced meal application is needed for program funding within the District. Families who qualify for free or reduced meals may also qualify for P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits carry over for 30 days in the school year or until a new application is filled out for the new school year. The free and reduced meal application is available on the SCCSD website.

Ms Myers, 2nd Grade

Ms. Myers is a team player who is always willing to help out. She has gone above and beyond to ensure all 2nd-grade students receive consistency with lesson plans and resources. In addition, Ms. Myers has genuinely stepped up and supported her new teaching partner. This year, Ms. Myers was willing to pilot a new structure to her math block and co-teach math. She has graciously welcomed another teacher in her room and shared her space and technology knowledge. Ms. Myer truly wants what is best for the Hunt students and staff, and we are blessed to have her at Hunt.

The Sioux City Community School District is proud to offer many ways for students and families to stay involved and connected in our community. The District’s Return-to-Learn Plan including our health and safety protocols and our weekly report for positive COVID-19 tests reported by parents and staff is available on the District’s website. The weekly positive COVID-19 data is updated every Friday as part of the District’s commitment to maintaining transparent communication with our families.

To limit the risk of exposure and minimize traffic in our school buildings, the District is limiting access to our buildings. Parents and volunteers will not be able to visit classrooms as a health and safety precaution. Access to outside agencies will be determined on a case-by-case basis.

From camps to sports leagues to family services, the SCCSD Virtual Backpack serves as a link between non-profit community partners and our students and families.
