Bridger Creative Science News
May 30, 2024
Dear Bridger Creative Science School Community I want to thank Joanna for organizing and supporting the Safety Patrol this year. She took this on as a new challenge in a new location and did a fantastic job with our 5th graders in helping to keep the front of our school safe at drop off and pick up. Safety Patrol ends for students this week. However, if there are any parent volunteers who would like to take up the flag and help with street crossing between 8:45-9:00 AM, please drop by the office or email Joanna at jgoebel@pps.net! I also want to talk about a big construction project that is happening over the summer at BCSS this year. Please note that due to this construction the building will be completely closed from June 21st to August 15th and access to the playground and garden may be limited at times. If you’ve been around campus, you’ve no doubt noticed the construction trailers and large blue boxes out back. It’s also possible you’ve heard from your student about the loud drilling that happened during the school day on Tuesday! Our school, along with Kelly Elementary, is receiving some significant upgrades to our Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) System this summer, and preliminary work started in April. Currently, they are demolishing the old boilers to make room for the new system. Once school is out, they’ll be installing new vents, ducts and heaters in every room in the building. The new system will be more energy efficient, less expensive, include cooling and allow teachers to control the temperature in their classrooms. I am working closely with the team overseeing the construction, communicating daily with the project manager and attending the team’s weekly progress meetings. Although we have had a couple of hiccups, like the drilling on Tuesday, the construction teams have been responsive to our concerns and made immediate changes when I’ve reached out to them. We now have a firm and clear agreement in place that limits noisy and disruptive work to outside of school hours.
