Our Howell Winter Guard traveled to Blue Springs on Saturday for the WGI Regional Championships. Our Vikings competed with 27 schools in their level. Their show "Unrequited" placed 11th in preliminary competition and earned them a place in the finals. After an incredible finals performance, the guard finished the day in 9th place overall at the Regional Championships. Congrats to our Winter Guard on a great day at Blue Springs!

The Golden Girls traveled to UDA Nationals to compete against the top dance programs in the country. Our GG's were coming off a 2022 season that included a National Championship at UDA Nationals. The program had another strong run by advancing to the finals in all three dances (Game Day, Hip-Hop, & Jazz). You can view the results from another successful year at the UDA Nationals for our Vikings. Next up for the GG's is the State Competition on February 25th in Kansas City. Congratulations to our Golden Girls on another great showing at UDA Nationals.

Thursday night was a busy evening for the football program. Our Vikings were recognized by both the Francis Howell School District Board of Education and the City of O'Fallon. The program was celebrated by both organizations for their efforts both on and off the field this season. The Football program earned its first ever State Championship this past fall by completing an undefeated season. Congratulations to Coach Chojnacki, football staff and our players on a great season!

The C-Team Girls Basketball program finished a successful season by winning the GAC Freshman Tournament this past week. The GAC Tournament win brought their record to 10-1 on the season. Congratulations and good luck to this talented group as they prepare to put their mark on the program over the course of the next three seasons.

The Boys and Girls Freshman Basketball programs completed their seasons this past week as they both competed in their respective GAC Tournaments. The Girls program brought home a tournament championship while the boys battled to the end of the tournament in a talented field of teams. The future is bright for both programs and Viking fans look forward to seeing these two groups develop over the course of the next three seasons.

The Howell Activities Department added a new video series for the 2022-23 school year entitled "Viking Views - Behind The Scenes With Howell's #unmatcHed Programs." The goal of the videos is to showcase our programs and give a behind the scenes look of what takes place at Howell in our activities & sports. The fall season was a success and now we have partnered with Tutor Doctor to bring Viking fans a winter season of Viking Views episodes. As the winter season comes to a close, we will begin to release our Viking Views episodes. Below you can find episode 13, that features our Girls Wrestling program. The Howell Activities Department looks forward to continuing to offer innovative opportunities to showcase the great programs and people we have at Howell. The experience of being involved in our activities and sports at Howell is truly #unmatcHed. Howell is filled with many talented artists. In March, students, parents and community members will have the opportunity to come out for a fun filled evening of art! The Howell Activities Department has partnered with Tutor Doctor of St. Peters. Each week a Howell student-participant will be recognized for the success they are having in their activity or sport. The student-participant will be recognized each Sunday in the Viking Insider and on all Howell Activities Department social media accounts. Hey Viking fans, the Howell Activities Department unveiled new technology that allows fans to be part of pre-game introductions! We want all Viking fans to participate in our custom cell phone light shows during our introductions at Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball, Girls Wrestling and Boys Wrestling events! All you need to do is download the Cue Live app from your Apple or Google Play app store You can also scan the QR code below to download the app. We look forward to seeing all of our fans take part in the introductions in our main gym at our upcoming events!

The Howell MSHSAA eligibility process is now beginning year three of a completely online format. The format is aimed at streamlining the process and making it quicker and easier for Howell student-participants involved in a MSHSAA sponsored activity or sport to be cleared and eligible to participate. This format will make the entire process "paperless" and will also allow families to carry over information from year to year and across all family members. The new online eligibility website can be found at www.howellvikings.com on the right side of the page by clicking the "MSHSAA Activities/Sports Registration (Eligibility)" tab or by clicking "Activity Registration" at the top of the page. Below you can find a step by step guide that has been established to help Viking families complete the eligibility process.

Those that are interested in participating in a spring activity or sport must have their online eligibility registration completed prior to February 20, 2023. The online eligibility will open for 2023 spring student-participants to register on January 3rd, 2023. Online registration must be complete and final clearance given in order to tryout for a winter activity or sport. Those that were involved in a fall or winter activity or sport and plan on participating in a spring activity or sport need to log in and click on the dropdown of the activity or sport they would like to participate in. Those that have questions or issues can now also view a tutorial video that has been developed that will walk you through the entire process. You can view the video below.

Those that are planning to tryout for a spring sport should plan now to attend one of the upcoming spring Impact Testing dates. Freshmen & Juniors participating in baseball, boys volleyball, track (jumps), girls soccer and girls lacrosse must complete this as part of their online eligibility process to be eligible to tryout for a spring sport.

Spring student-participants and parents are encouraged to mark their calendar now for the spring culture and eligibility meeting. All spring student-participants and parents are required to attend this meeting that will take place following spring tryouts. Additional information on the brief meeting can be found below. Spring sports begin for all schools across the state on February 27th. Below you can find the locations and times for tryouts. All locations and times are subject to change. Please remember that in order to tryout on February 27th you must have "Final Clearance" from the online eligibility website completed by February 20th. Those that do not have final clearance will not be permitted to tryout, no exceptions. Information regarding that process is found on www.howellvikings.com and has been live for spring sports since January 1st.
