• 🌱 The spring season gets its name from the verb "spring." It's a nod to the flowers and plants springing up, springing open, and bursting into blossom.
• 🐣 The word itself comes from the Old English word "springan," which means "to leap, burst forth, fly up; spread, grow."
• 🌸 During the 14th century, the word came to describe the spring season, the time when plants wake from their winter sleep and bloom.
• 🌅 Before that, the word "Lent" was used to describe the season: "In the past it was the main word for ‘spring.' Lent surfaced as ‘lencten,' that is, ‘lengten': the season got its name because in spring days lengthen."

We are excited for our 27 week test happening this week and next week. This test will be taken in Reading and Math for 2nd-5th grades, and 5th grade will also take the Science test. We want our students to do their very best as they practice for the EOG while taking this assessment. Students are expected to use their strategies, work hard and give it their all!! Please help ensure your child is here each day they test and that they eat in our cafeteria for free, or eat breakfast at home. Thanks for your help! Teachers will use this data to plan future instruction and see what they need to work on with your student prior to the EOG. They will do great!

Due to short staffing, Afterschool will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays until further notice. We are currently interviewing possible candidates to work afterschool and we feel like this closing will only last 2-3 weeks, but we will let families know. Sorry for this inconvenience and thank you for your patience. The cost of afterschool will be adjusted due to the closures. Please let me or Ms. Macie, afterschool director, know if you have any questions. Thanks!

Please send in your pennies, or change. We will be having a March Madness penny war beginning on Monday, March 24- March 28th. Student Council will be collecting the money to go towards their Teacher Appreciation fund and project. Also, the winning grade gets to slime either Mrs. Watson, Mrs. Fama, or Officer Jenn.

Persistent is our word of the week! Persistent means to continue to try to do something even when it's hard or people want you to stop. It's like sticking with something until you succeed and also means something that won't go away.

We hope you will join us from 5:30-7:00 pm on Thursday, April 3rd for our STEM Night!

It's a drop in event where students will travel around the school and complete experiments and fun science activities. All students that complete 5 of the activities will get a goody bag filled with treats and a science activity to take home, not to mention a homework pass! Hope to see you there!

We will be having our annual Kids Heart Challenge event on April 22nd and students will be taking home information following. Students have the option of raising money for the American Heart Association. More info to come!

The Clothes Bin is full again! Wow! We've had a great response with this new recycling endeavor. They are coming Monday to empty it again. Keep those donations coming and thanks for supporting our new Clothes Bin!
