Message from Principal Sledge 📝
Welcome back Snyder Park Families! What an AMAZING DAY! Our team was excited to welcome the students back to school today. Each year is an opportunity for new beginnings and limitless possibilities. We count it a privilege to help your children achieve their full potential and seek out their passions and purpose.
We are now in Core 2 of Leader in Me. That being said, our focus is to allow our students more leadership opportunities in the school, taking more ownership in their learning, and being successful with their WIGS (Wildly Important Goals). You will receive regular updates this school year about Leader in Me and hope you apply this discipline at home too. Let's have a Great Year!!
~ Walter Sledge, Principal

Leader in Me at Home 🏠
Leader in Me is an ongoing initiative within our school district. It is very important for our teachers, staff, students, families, and community to support each other in this effort at home and at school. Use The 7 Habits and The 5 Core Paradigms below to refresh your memory and spark your conversation at home!
- Be Proactive- take responsibility for your choices and behaviors.
- Begin With the End in Mind- think about how you would like something to turn out before you get started.
- Put First Things First- decide what is most important and take care of that first.
- Think Win-Win- believe that everyone can win.
- Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood- it is better to listen first and talk second.
- Synergize- when two or more people work together to create a better solution that either would have thought of alone.
- Sharpen the Saw- have balance in your life.
- Find Your Voice- find what you do well to contribute and help others.
There are 5 Core Paradigms that are the foundation for Leader in Me:
- Everyone can be a leader- Recognize that you are a leader. Reflect on your strengths and the strengths of your family members.
- Everyone has genius- Ask your student what their unique genius is.
- Change starts with me- Discuss how each member of the family has shown personal responsibility for their actions and choices.
- Empower students to lead their own learning- Empower your student at home to be "in charge" of their learning experience by asking questions rather than just always giving them the answer.
- Educators and families partner to develop the whole person- Reflect on how you take care of your mind, body, heart, and spirit and share that with other members of your family.
