Ducks Update
Back to School Edition

April 25, 2025
A Note from Ms. de Boom-Howard
Hello, Davis Duck Families,
What a great week we’ve had! A huge thank you to Megan Richards and our incredible PTA for organizing an amazing STEAM Night. The evening was filled with exciting science and art activities, and we were thrilled to welcome so many wonderful vendors who shared hands-on projects with our students. Families who attended said it was their favorite event of the year—and we couldn’t agree more! Thank you for your continued support in making these special experiences possible.
State testing kicks off next week, starting with 5th grade science, and continuing with ELA and Math for Grades 3–6 in the following weeks. As always, our message to students, staff, and families is simple and consistent: “Do your very best.”
For our students, doing your best means taking your time, reading questions carefully, checking your work, and clearly explaining your thinking. These tests are just one way to show all that they've learned, and we’re proud of their hard work. Let’s all remind our students to take a deep breath, stay calm, and give it their all—you’ve got this!
Go Ducks!!

Core Value of the Week
Do What is Right!
At Davis, we believe in the importance of making choices that reflect honesty, integrity, and kindness. "Do What is Right!" reminds our students to stand up for what’s fair, even when it’s hard, and to treat others with respect and compassion. Whether it's helping a friend, telling the truth, or choosing kindness over popularity, doing the right thing builds a strong, supportive community where everyone can thrive.

Lice Prevention and Protocol

State Testing Notice for Grades 3–6
State testing will soon be underway for students in grades 3 through 6. During this time, volunteers will not be permitted in testing classrooms to maintain a focused and distraction-free environment.
Our campus will be following a strict schedule through the latter part of May to support student success during this important period. Daily attendance and on-time arrival are especially important during testing, as they have a significant impact on student performance.
To help minimize disruptions, we kindly ask that you schedule any appointments outside of testing times. Please refer to the schedule below for specific dates and details. Thank you for your support and partnership!
