From Mr. Clemente
Dear Winter Park Band families,
Congratulations to the SOTW for their performance at the past Saturday's Winter Park Christmas Parade. Thank you to all of the parent chaperones who helped out and kicked off the holiday season with us! A reminder, next week's parade in Baldwin Park is an evening parade. Please see the link to the itinerary above.
We have a very full week this week with students involved in lots of performances and gigs. Below in the message from Natalie Storch, Band Booster President, please review the information for donating cookies to our post Winter Band Concert reception on Thursday.
We have a new logo for the Winter Park Band! Thank you again to Darrell and Sara Robinson and their team at Metropolis Graphics, Inc. for their creative skills and help in designing this logo. In case you haven't seen my email from Thursday evening, we are celebrating the new logo with an order of Band spirit wear. If you would like to order spirit wear, you must act quickly! All orders are due before this coming Tuesday, 12/10 so that the items will be available for pickup before we leave for the winter break. See below in the newsletter for more details and a link to the order form.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the concert on Thursday! Have a great week!

BAND BOOSTER PRESIDENT MESSAGE
Week of December 8, 2019
Thank you to everyone who helped with the parade on Saturday. What a great performance by the Sound of the Wildcats!
We need a lot of cookies/desserts for the reception, so please remember to drop off your baked goods in the lobby by 6:45pm, on your way in to the concert-suggested items: cookies, donuts, rice crispy treats, brownies-individual pieces-platters should be picked up after concert if you would like them back, as they cannot be stored). If you don’t have time to bake, you may pick up something at the store. All of the students enjoy the goodies after the concert, and we want to make sure there are enough to go around and plenty left for the students putting away the equipment who are not in the lobby until much laterJ
Help is also needed for set up and clean up of desserts. Please see the Charms calendar to sign up.
Looking forward: more drivers are needed for Door 2 Door on February 1. Please sign up on Charms. If you have not sent a copy of your license/insurance, please do so as soon as possible. You may take a picture of it and email it to Heather Ribaric at ribaric.family@gmail.com, or you may use the band copier to copy the information this Thursday (day of concert).
Thank you everyone. See you Thursday!

SOLO & ENSEMBLE
What's next:
Now that students are signed up for the performance option of their choosing for S&E, now the real work begins. Preparation of a solo piece or chamber work is a very individual task, but no one should be preparing their music alone. Seek out help from anyone you can - Mr. Clemente, Mr. Smith, your private lesson teacher, a section leader, your middle school band director, etc. Feedback from someone you trust to be honest with you is invaluable in preparation for S&E.
For those students performing a piece for S&E that requires a piano accompanist, you need to have an accompanist secured before we leave for winter break at the very latest. Your accompanist needs just as much time to prepare their part as you do to prepare yours. Also, you need to schedule at least 2 rehearsals with you accompanist before your performance at S&E. If you are still searching for an accompanist, please consult the Recommended Accompanist List on our Band website for contact information for a small selection of local accompanists.
