Superintendent's Message
Welcome back families and staff!
The first week of school is off to a great start! I visited all our schools and saw happy faces on our students and our staff members. Our buildings are bright and shiny clean thanks to our custodial staff and student workers. Ever wonder what it takes to make our buildings back to school ready? Matt Oliver, our Building and Grounds Supervisor gave this information at the last Board meeting:
In total we moved 2,668 student desks 2 times. This
is to get waxing done in classrooms and hallways. This number does not include full
bookshelves, teacher desks or tables, all of this is also moved 2 times (sometimes 3).
We put down in total 350 gallons of wax on our floors and we have used almost 115
gallons of paint this summer.
Large Projects that happened this summer:
EVS
3 classrooms were updated to no wax floors
Paving project to move water from going into the back door
Flat roofs were redone
CES
Flat roofs were redone
IRS
Sky Light was replaced in the gym
Paving was done to shed water way from back gym doors
Library revived a new Carpet
Thank you to all the families who completed the transportation form prior to school. This made busing the first day run much more smoothly than it has in the past. There may be further minor changes to the routes, but schools will notify parents if these occur. We are still in need of bus drivers. If you know anyone who may be interested, please have them contact Sierra at Butlerβs Bus, 603-632-1199. The starting rate for brand new drivers is $26.75 per hour.
We are also looking to fill coaching positions at both the high school and Indian River School. If you know of anyone that can help out, please have them contact the schools immediately. IRS has over 20 kids who want to play soccer and are eagerly awaiting a coach!
Once again, welcome back! We are off to the great start of what will surely be a fabulous year!
