Panther Planner
For the Week of March 10, 2025
PES Mission
PES serves our community by preparing all students in a safe and nurturing environment to be critical thinkers, productive citizens and thrivers with admirable character.
Attendance matters from the first day of school until the last!
How does attendance affect funding?
The State of California funds attendance, not absences. That is why schools in California are funded on Average Daily Attendance (ADA). ADA is the primary funding source for all schools/school districts in California.
Check the calendar below for the 24.25 school year.
Thank you for your support!

Read Across America
Our Panthers had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America week. We had lots of fun events planned outside of our spirit day, which included a raffle of over 35 books that were donated by our Student Council, and each student was given a book mark as well. We had lots of reading groups, which included our older students reading to our younger students and Mayor Kalfus reading, and our Literacy Specialist, Mrs. Polhill, transformed her classroom into a Dr. Seuss paradise and read to our students as well!
Congratulations to Mrs. Reynold's for being selected as the TVUSD's Community High Five Spotlight. Community members can nominate a deserving employee by completing this form.
5th Grade CAST Testing
The fifth graders will be testing from March 10th to March 14th from 9 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Please make sure that students are prepared by bringing their charged device in addition to being on time, getting a good night's rest, and eating a balanced breakfast.
Spring Pictures are Here!
Spring photos have been distributed by your student's teacher. Please preview the photos and place orders online or by using the payment envelope that was provided. Unwanted photos and payment envelopes must be returned to the teacher or the front office by 3/10/25.
Recycling Program
Thank you to our Paloma families for contributing to the recycling program. We are off to a great start. We will have students collecting recycling every Wednesday. The proceeds from the recycling will be used to fund supplies for the Clean-Up Crew and Garden Club programs. We appreciate you and THANK YOU for your support!

Don't forget to preorder your yearbooks! Please see the flyer below for details on how to order online. Yearbooks can be purchased online only!!
Educational Partner Survey
TVUSD is committed to involving our educational partners (students, parents, staff, and community members) in planning for future years. There are two separate survey links to complete this year, and both are available in Spanish. The surveys are anonymous and will be a valuable source of information as we continue to develop and update student-centered instructional practices and fiscal budgets. District and staff leaders will have access to aggregate data from all staff/parents. Please take a moment to provide your feedback. Both surveys will be available through Friday, March 21st. We thank you in advance for your time. Click the Smore below to be directed to the survey links.
Student Recognition at Paloma!
This week, we had several Kindergarten students who rang the bell in the principal's office for meeting their goal of either reading all of their Kindergarten sight words or spelling them. We are so proud of these students. Keep up the great work! We love recognizing our Paloma Panthers for meeting their goals!
Social/Emotional Learning at Paloma!
For the month of March, students will be learning about the Thriver trait, Curiosity, from Michele Borba's book Thrivers.
Every week, we wil be sharing ideas on how to build Curiosity in children.
This week, ask your child what they learned about Curiosity at school.
5th Grade Orientation Flyers
If you have a 5th grader who will be attending one of the schools below, please click on the applicable flyer for more details regarding their parent orientation night!
Breakfast and Lunch is FREE!
All students are able to receive a free breakfast and hot lunch, please make sure your child knows whether they have brought a lunch or if they need to get one from our cafeteria. Breakfast is served at recess. Click on the link below to view both the breakfast and lunch menus.
Safety at Arrival and Dismissal
Let's keep all Panthers safe at school!
When using the loop to pick up or drop off your child by car, PLEASE.....
- Only park in appropriate areas. The pick-up loop can be a very busy place, especially on modified days. However, it is important to remember to only park in designated parking spaces. Please do not park along curbs that are painted red these areas need to be available in the event emergency personnel are called. Please Do not park in handicap spots unless you have a handicap placard. If there is no parking available when you arrive, you will need to park on the street and walk to meet your child or join the pick-up loop. If you are parked in these areas, you will be asked to move.
- Always use the crosswalks.
- Do not use the parking lot as an additional pick-up line. This blocks access to parking spaces, including handicap spots. If there is not an open parking spot, please pull through and go around again to look for an opening or join the loop pick-up line.
- Stay in your car when using the loop. If your child needs assistance entering or exiting the car, please park in the lot and walk them to their gate.
- Move all the way forward as directed by the school staff.
- In the morning, do not wait until your child reaches the gate to pull away. Staying in the loop and watching your child walk in through the gate, slows the flow of traffic. If you would like to watch your child enter the gate, please park your car and walk your child.
- At dismissal, do not stop in the loop and wait for your child to come in your direction, instead pull up when there is space to pull forward. Pull all the way forward and continue to move forward with the traffic. Your child will walk down towards you.
We appreciate your continued cooperation and patience.
