Please take this opportunity to support the learning environment for your student and learn how you can assist your child's achievement. HERE are suggestions to assist you.

• On Saturday, November 10th, these 5 outstanding Wredling orchestra musicians played in the District 9 ILMEA Festival at Huntley High School. These string players auditioned and were chosen to be in this advanced orchestra. Sofia Radovic; violin, Alyssa Wantanapongse, viola; Owen White; viola, Megan Kamysz; cello, Nathan Throneburg; bass. They gave a wonderful performance!
• Congratulations also to the Wredling band students who went through a rigorous audition to be accepted into the highly competitive District 9 ILMEA Middle School Honor Band: Janelle Pabona; Clarinet, David Saucedo; Clarinet, Mackenzie Williams; Clarinet, Marion Miller; Bass Clarinet, Jack Morby; Bassoon, Joe Wiesner; Trumpet, Teagan Jandura; Baritone, and David Gaertner; Tuba.
  
• Finally, our very own Marley Andleman along with 44 other students from around the State of Illinois were recognized for their artistic achievements by the Illinois Art Education Association. Out of 600 pieces submitted Marley's artwork is one of 45 pieces chosen to travel around the State of Illinois until November 2019 and out of the 45 pieces her artwork will travel to the State Capitol for Arts Advocacy Day on November 28, 2018. It was an incredible day for Marley and the Wredling Redhawk Art Dept. Congratulations Marley! The IAEA Student Art Show will be on display at the St. Charles Public Library during the month of May 2019. RedHawk Artists Rock!

Our Book Fair in partnership with Scholastic will be open during Parent/Teacher Conferences

• 9:00 am - 7:00 pm Monday, November 19th

This is your last chance to stop in and pick up some great reads or do some holiday shopping!

There is also a Book Fairs App and an online shopping option!

The 7th Grade Fall Social is Friday, November 30th from 3:30 - 5:30 right here at Wredling. All 7th-grade students are encouraged to attend! The cost of the event is a $2 donation to Student Council. The money earned is used for student activities right here at WMS. The main gym will be open for basketball with music and board games in the cafeteria. We will also be showing the movie Elf in the fitness room. Free popcorn will be available and Kona Ice will be available for purchase. We hope to see many of our 7th-grade students there!

The Wredling Middle School Parent Teacher Organization has partnered with Wredling Administration to identify and support fellow Wredling Middle School students in need this holiday season. All Papa Nicholas coffee orders have been filled. If you ordered coffee, please remember to pick it up during conferences on Monday and Tuesday in the LRC Make Space. Enter through the LRC and browse the Book Fair while you are there! . We have noticed that many students do not have locks on their lockers. There has also been an uptick in reports of items missing from various students. Please take the time to talk to your RedHawk and make sure that they have a Wredling lock on locker. Wredling locks have a WMS stamped on the backside. Should they need to purchase a lock, they are available in the main office for a cost of $5.00 each. Thanks for your help!

A representative from Blue Lake Summer Music Camp will be visiting Wredling on Monday, December 3rd to do scholarship auditions during all performance music periods. NO auditions will take place after school. In order to be eligible for an audition time you MUST have a signed permission slip from a parent. Music directors will be handing out the permission slips. Instrumental students that are interested in auditioning should prepare two scales and an excerpt of a prepared piece, while vocalists should prepare several vocal warm-ups and an excerpt of a prepared song. Good luck on your audition!

On December 4, 2018, Matthew Quinn, Licensed Counselor from Rosecrance will be our guest at a Parent University program entitled, "Talking to your Child about the Dangers of Drug and Alcohol Use." This important Parent University program will take place at St. Charles North High School in Room 302 from 6:30 - 8:00 pm.

Between school pressures, extracurricular activities, homework, and demanding careers, it’s hard to find time just to get dinner on the table. In Mindful Parenting, child and family psychologist Dr. Kristen Race speaks directly to today’s busy families who make up what she calls “Generation Stress” and presents an alternative – a mindful approach. Drawing on the latest research, she shows how mindfulness helps us – and our children – feel happier, healthier, calmer, less anxious, less stressed, and more focused. Come discuss the book with your fellow parents.

As part of the book study discussions, we will explore

• How the brain works and why parents and kids today are more stressed, anxious, and angry than ever before.

• Practical solutions that parents can do to create a more relaxed and happier home.
  
  

Not able to attend the face-to-face discussions? No problem! We will be offering virtual discussion threads so that people can connect from home. Information about virtual discussion links will be sent to participants in January.

Can’t come to all book discussions? No problem! Feel free to join any or all of the discussions.

All parents who register will receive a copy of the book. Books may be picked up on December 10 in the Administration Center, 201 S. 7th Street from 10:00-11:00 a.m. or 5:30-6:30 p.m. If you are unable to pick up on December 10, please contact Dr. Cindy Ruesch at cindy.ruesch@d303.org.

The Salvation Army’s annual Jim Wheeler Toys for Kids program is once again in full swing. This program, which collects and distributes toys for the needy boys and girls of the Tri-City area, is celebrating its 35th year. The program has been named in honor of the late Jim Wheeler who was the creator and driver behind this effort.

Once again, we are asking for your support of this program for children at Christmas time. We are looking for new unwrapped toys and games and also will be accepting monetary contributions and gift cards to help make this Christmas a very special one.

Collection Boxes will arrive at Wredling next week - the week of November 12th
Collection Ends Wednesday, December 12th and Boxes Picked up December 13th
