CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BEGINNER BAND at their Contest!!! They received 1st Division, Superior Ratings, by ALL 3 JUDGES!!! We are so proud of you!
CONGRATULATIONS to those who participated in the GCISD MS Solo Contest on Saturday, May 5 at Cross Timbers MS!!! Students will be given their rating on Monday!!!
The playing portion of the Final Exam will begin the week of May 14th. If any student needs help with their final exam music, we are available after school by appointment (any day except for Tuesday, May 8th) until 4:30 pm. . It will also serve as the audition for next year's bands. Students will receive their band placement through their schedule on Skyward in August.
The Spring Concert will be held on THIS FRIDAY, MAY 11TH at Grapevine High School at 7:00 pm. ALL BANDS will perform, and this is a REQUIRED performance. Beginner Band students will report to the Auditorium, Honors Band to the Band Hall, and Symphonic Band to the Choir Room at 6:15 pm. Honors and Symphonic students will wear Concert Black uniforms, Beginner students will wear nice clothes (no jeans, t-shirts, short skirts, tennis shoes please).
A dessert reception will be held after the concert. Students need to bring the following items before the concert and drop them off in the auditorium:
6TH GRADE: 1 DOZEN COOKIES
7TH/8TH GRADE: 6 PACK OF SODA OR WATER

Our Six Flags Reward Trip is on Friday, May 25th from 9:30-6:45 p.m. All eligible students will receive information this week. This is a bad weather make-up day, is a 4-day weekend, and we will not have school. Ticket prices are $36 and season pass holders may use their season pass. We will leave GMS by bus at 9:30 a.m. and return to GMS at 6:45 p.m.

Beginner Band This Week: Rhythm Rockers. Beginner Book, pgs. 22, 17, 37, 46. Scale Sheets. Fingering Chart, Chromatic, Concert Music: Eagle Summit March, Tempest. Students are working to pass-off Level 2 and Level 3 (Super Grand Champion) Scales.
