FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
On Wednesday, May 1st we celebrated National Principals Day, where we want extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the principals in the Centennial School District. Your dedication, leadership, and tireless efforts are the bedrock of our educational community. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to fostering excellence and creating a nurturing environment where every student can thrive. Your impact extends far beyond the walls of our schools, shaping the future of our students and our society.
Dr. Bedden, orchestrated a heartwarming surprise for the nominated winners of the Outstanding Achievement Award, gathering them for a moment of recognition in front of their colleagues and students this week. He took a moment to acknowledge the nominated staff members, each of whom have left an indelible mark on the school community through their tireless efforts, innovative approaches, and unwavering commitment to excellence. Dr. Bedden also had the opportunity to honor the late Jim Burke of transportation, a deeply respected member of the school community whose absence has been keenly felt. In a poignant gesture, Dr. Bedden presented the award to his family, who stood in his place.
Today is School Lunch Hero Day! This special day recognizes the difference school nutrition professionals make for every child who enters their cafeteria! A big thank you to the CSD team, who work hard every day! They are truly our heroes!
CENTENNIAL HIGHLIGHTS
ACADEMICS
Celebration of Strength at Davis
Davis students engaged in Celebration of Strength activities throughout the month of April. The goal was to elevate our students' awareness of their unique strengths, character traits, and diverse talents. Several of our classrooms designed personalized "Super Strength Capes" as a way to showcase our many positive attributes as whole learners. "Kind, A Good Friend, Athletic, Creative, Beautiful, Imaginative, Trustworthy, Lego-Expert" were some of many descriptors shown across our Davis Community.
Log College Student Essay Winner
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the LCMS Counseling Dept. hosting the group, “Straight Talk About Cancer”, known as STAC. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Christina Wise from Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia to facilitate these groups over the years.
Each year CSCGP holds the Ben Strauss Youth Program Essay Contest. Teens from Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Philadelphia, and Delaware Counties who have faced or are facing cancer in their lives, are invited to write an essay about their experience. The essays go through a rigorous judging process, one of Log College Middle School’s students was a winner!
It is with great pride that CSCGP has named Haneen Mighri as Honorable Mention in our 2024 Teen Essay Contest for Middle School Students. Haneen is a 7th grade student at Log College Middle School.
With great courage and determination all the authors wrote of their experiences in dealing with cancer. It’s tough being a teen couple with the stress and fear of cancer in their lives makes it more profoundly difficult.
We are so proud of Haneen and her accomplishment!
World Language Accolades to WT Students
Congratulations to our senior students who have successfully completed the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association's (PSMLA) Global Scholars Program for this year: Krista Bondarenko, Marin Goldberg, Daniela Gomez Hernandez, Sanjeev Pandith, Lesly Rodriguez, Kimberly Rojas, and Jessica Villada.
Only 127 students from 20 high schools throughout the State received this honor. This program recognizes students for taking four years of the same language at the high school level. Students also must take four other courses that focus on global issues, maintain a 85% average in their courses, complete five media reviews and participate in four community service events. The students received a certificate and a special cord to be worn during graduation.

WT Madrigals and Chorale Perform in New York City
Members of the Madrigals and Chorale select choirs went to the Big Apple last weekend (April 26-28) to perform at the Empire State Building and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Students also participated in a Broadway Workshop with two Broadway directors, ate dinner at the famous Ellen's Stardust Diner, and went to see Back to the Future on Broadway. As if that wasn't enough, students also got to tour the Museum of Broadway, ARTECHOUSE, and the Statue of Liberty. They even got to see JoJo Siwa record a TikTok up close at the Empire State Building!
St. John the Divine is one of the largest cathedrals in the world. The acoustics are so vibrant that chords continue to reverberate for 8 seconds after the choir stops singing.
