NEWSLETTER | TERM 1| WEEK 7 | 15 MAR 2024
Many of us have a sense of self or identity created by our relationship to ideas, thoughts, and words. We can spend our whole lives rattling around inside of ideas, rarely touching upon what is right in front of us, when it’s the “givens” that heal us and reconnect us to Reality. We spend a majority of our time interacting with thoughts and opinions about everything. We’re almost entirely fixated on our computers, smart phones, news feeds, email, social media, and selfies. This is, of course, an “unnatural” world of our own creation. We don’t even realize that we’ve disconnected ourselves from the only world that people lived in for most of human history.
More from Richard Rohr on the importance of connecting with the soul of nature.
Greetings Everyone,
A great assembly this morning from Year Six celebrating the joys of camp. Well-done to them and to their teachers Nikita and Pete. Camp was very successful and provided many opportunities for children to engage with life in ways often quite different to what they are used to. And, by all accounts, they thrived. Camp in Term One has the potential to add so much to the lives of the children and staff involved over the year. In conversation with some recent Newman College graduates, they were unequivocal in their view that of all the camps they went on, that their Holy Rosary camp was the best. Nice to hear.
Next week sees our Student Leaders attend the GRIP Leadership conference in town on Monday, and on Friday we look forward to our Swimming Carnival! Rob has done a great deal of work preparing for this. There are also many parent volunteers this year - thank you for your support. The carnival would not run without you!
Enjoy the weekend

Sickness
We have had quite a few children (and some staff) away the past couple of weeks and the reasons are many - covid, flu, gastro for example. Our wish is for everyone to be well and at school, but our appreciation goes to you for really helping your children to get well more quickly and to minimise the spread of sickness at school, by keeping sick children home. This means a great deal to our community. Thank you very much indeed for being so mindful.
Harmony Day

Just a reminder the interview appointment slots go for 10 minutes so please ensure you arrive on time.

Project Compassion Collection Boxes
A reminder for all Project Compassion collection boxes to please be returned to the school by Monday 25 March.
This year's Project Compassion theme is 'For All Future Generations'. This message invites us to step up for those who do not have the essential resources they need for their survival and those whose needs at this time are far beyond ours. By putting compassion into action, we can make a difference today, 'For All Future Generations'.
NAPLAN
A reminder that the 2024 NAPLAN testing began on Wednesday 13th March and continues until Wednesday 20th March, with any catchups completed by Monday 25th March. Any students completing these assessments will need to ensure that they come to school with their iPad fully charged and have their set of headphones available.
Please refer to the testing schedule below.
Parent Volunteer Declaration

If you anticipate volunteering at Holy Rosary this year, please complete the short online form below. The declaration lasts for one year. The requirement is common to all schools.

Next week is our Second Hand Book Sale for Project Compassion. On Thursday 21st March, at lunchtime, students can purchase a pre-loved, second hand book from in front of the library for 50c. These books may have some scribble, some water damage or are just not needed anymore. If students do not wish to buy a book, they do not have to. It is a fun event focussed on recycling, reading and raising money for those in need. All proceeds will go to Project Compassion.
If you have any books to donate to the sale, please deliver them on WEDNESDAY 20th March ONLY. Books can be dropped to the front of the library, on the table provided, anytime throughout the day from 8am – 4pm. Thank you so much for your support. The kids love it!
