Career Exploration

March brings us to the time of year when we will be exploring what students might want to do after they leave high school. While elementary students are still in the early stages of answering questions about what they want their careers to look like there are many valuable learning opportunities and experiences that can help guide them along the way.


One of my favorite ways to frame career exploration is to change the question from "What do you want to be when you grow up?" to "What problems do you want to help solve?". I think this helps students look at how they can contribute to our world and helps keep their dreams broad enough to explore both currently available jobs and be aware that their career may not even exist yet! A student who wants to "help people who are hurting" might end up in the medical field, a school or a role in law and government.

College Day 2023

On March 31, 2023 McClure Elementary will be celebrating College Day. Students are encouraged to wear a shirt that represents their favorite school or the colors that represent that school. Students and staff will be learning more about the colleges and universities in Kansas through trivia questions, games and special drawings for college swag!

Citizenship is represented by the color purple

Look for opportunities to be a good citizen.
