Sunrise Family Updates

I hope you had a great weekend as these summer days fly by! We have assigned all registered students to a class list; if you would like to know who your child's teacher is before Open House on August 27th (4 - 6 pm), access the Parent Portal using your app or:

1. Go to our district's homepage: https://www.sturbay.k12.wi.us/
2. Click on main menu
3. Choose Power School (blue background)
4. Log in with your username and password (same one you used to register).
5. Click on Student Reports (left hand side)
6. Click on the report card for the current grade your child is in and you will see your child's homeroom teacher listed under their picture and name.

Truth to be told, I thought this would be a little easier to find on the parents side. This is something we will work on for next year. Our goal in rolling out the homeroom teacher this way is to allow you to learn the Parent Portal better. As you can see, once you poke around in there, you will find the link to Food Service and much more.

Our Summer School Community Garden classes did such an awesome job planting and it is now officially harvest time!

One of the Master Gardeners who worked with the students, Sandi, is making herself available for the young gardeners and their families to come and look at the fruit of their labor on the following dates and times:

To all families, you are encouraged to stop by and tour the grounds. They ask that you walk on the paths and do not enter a garden plot without garden plot renter permission. Thank you!

Master Gardener Carmen, also sent this photo of some of what has been harvested already and donated to Feed and Clothe My People and Lakeshore Cap!

There are some awesome classes offered at the YMCA after school including: Kids in the Kitchen, Spanish, Dodgeball, Volleyball and so much more! There is also a bus that goes directly from Sunrise to the YMCA after school for after school programming. Check it out!

You may feel pressure from your child "all of my friends have a Smartphone". I will assure you they do not. Please read about other ways to stay connected with your child and consider signing the pledge that you will wait to get your child a Smartphone until the end of 8th grade. It is a nationwide movement called Wait Until 8th to "let our kids be kids a little bit longer".

It is that time of the year to start thinking about school supplies! There are some great sales going on now! As a reminder, we have donations that come in every year and so please let me know if you need anything. Ms. Londo, our school counselor is also a great person to contact (dlondo@sbsdmail.net) for help with supplies and other resources.

• Tuesday, August 27 (4 - 6 pm) - District Wide Open House - Come meet your child's teacher, see their classroom and drop off supplies!

• Tuesday, September 3 - First Day of School

• Thursday, September 12 (5:30 - 7:00 pm) - Sunrise Orientation - Learn all about Sunrise from your child's teacher(s) during informative 20 minute sessions and stay for dinner afterward!
