The Tiger Times

Week of March 16, 2025
Good Evening Tigers,
This is Noel Keener, the proud principal of Ragsdale High, with this weeks updates.
Congratulations to our Students of the Week- DJ Parker, Montrez Barrino, Madelyn O'Brien, and Jenae Cole! Women's Soccer Player Micah Moody has been named Athlete of the Week. Way to go Micah!
Did you hear? Women's Basketball Coach Ren Stewart has been named Coach of the Year for our conference as voted on by his peers. Congrats Coach Stewart!
Progress Reports were sent out last week. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you have any questions. Grades should be updated at least weekly.
Spring is on its way- that means we have a few reminders- find all of our schoolwide rules on our website and in our newsletter.
- We do have a dress code! All tops and bottoms should meet in the middle and bottoms should be at least fingertip length. Clothing that has violent words or images or has words or images promoting drug use will not be tolerated.
- Students should be on time for classes. At the 4th tardy per class, an office referral is submitted. Students more than 5 minutes lates are considered skipping. Coming soon, we will be conducting tardy sweeps intermittently and late students may have additional consequences.
- Drivers MUST BE ON TIME. At the 6th tardy, students will lose their parking pass for a period of time.
- Cell phones are not allowed during instruction.
As you may know, Ragsdale uses an electronic pass system to issue passes to students throughout the building. Last semester, nearly 3,500 passes from classes were issued (we have 1300 students). The combined time of issued passes was 454 hours or 65 seven hour school days. That is a lot of missed classroom time! We ask that students no take their phones to restrooms to decrease lost instructional time.
Guest forms for our Spring Fling Dance are due March 19th! This dance will be held on campus and the cost is $10 per student. All grade levels are welcome!
Congratulations to our Ragsdale Chorus for an outstanding performance Thursday night! We are awed by the talent of our students.
Our annual Blood Drive is coming up on Friday March 21st. The drive will take place in the Old Gym from 8:30AM-2:00PM. The community is also welcome- we just ask that you sign up, and enter at the main office where you will be walked to the blood drive area. Sign up at https://www.redcrossblood.org/account-login.html
Thank you , have a great week, and, as always, TIGER PRIDE!

Shout Outs
Congratulations to our Students of the Week!
Da’Jan Parker – 10th grade – nominated by Mr. Phillips – “Da’Jan is making excellent progress in Math 2, building his confidence and focus on learning.”
Montrez Barrino – 10th grade – nominated by Ms. Bagnell – “Montrez adapts to any situation. He takes personal responsibility and communicates well with his peers. He goes above and beyond what is expected of him in the classroom. I thoroughly enjoy having him in class.”
Madelyn O’Brien – 11th grade – nominated by Mrs. Dehart – “Madelyn was instrumental in the creation of the Career and Technical Education video to promote the CTE courses here at Ragsdale and at Weaver. She demonstrated adaptability by having to adjust to moving deadlines because of the weather and shortened time frames to collect photos and videos. She took personal responsibility for ensuring the video was what was needed for promotion during our registration season. She used her own personal time to give back to her school and to do her very best. Her collaboration with Ms. Schuler, other Marketing 2 students, and Ms. DeHart was critical to the success of the video being produced. Thank you, Madelyn for being a great example of a portrait of a graduate!”
Jenae Cole – 12th grade – nominated by Ms. Phipps – “I am pleased to recommend Jeanae Cole for the Student of the Week award in Ms. Wilson's English 4 class. Jeanae is exceptionally polite and kind, always treating her classmates and teachers with respect. She is consistently on-task and does a wonderful job with her assignments. Jeanae's positive attitude, enthusiasm for learning, and academic excellence make her a deserving recipient of this award.”

Athletics
Athlete of the Week
Ragsdale Athletics is proud to announce that freshman Micah Moody has been named the Athlete of the Week for her outstanding performance on the women’s soccer team.
In a thrilling week of competition, Micah, who is only a freshman, showcased her incredible talent and determination on the field. In a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Oak Grove, she scored the lone goal that secured the win for her team. Continuing her impressive streak, Micah delivered an extraordinary performance in a dominating 6-0 victory against Bethany Community Charter, where she found the back of the net four times.
Despite a tough 3-2 loss to Bishop McGuinness, Micah still managed to contribute significantly by scoring one goal, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to the team. Additionally, she consistently looks to set up her teammates, highlighting her team-first mentality and playmaking ability.
Her remarkable achievements this week not only reflect her scoring prowess but also her dedication to fostering team success, making her a key asset to the Ragsdale women’s soccer program as she embarks on her collegiate career.
Congratulations to Micah Moody on this well-deserved recognition!
