Message from the Principal
Dear Mustang Community,
I hope everyone had a restful weekend and is ready for another productive week here at the Ranch!
First, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible Senior Class Advisors, Mr. Zimmerman and Mr. Frias, for organizing a truly unforgettable Senior Prom at the Kona Kai Resort this past Saturday. The event was beautifully done, and it was heartwarming to see our seniors creating such special memories together. Thank you both for your hard work and dedication to making this night so meaningful for our students. Additionally,, congratulations to our Prom King Ian Evans and our Prom Queen Claire Schroeder.
This week, we continue with CAASPP testing for our 11th-grade students. Juniors, please continue to give your best effort—this is a great opportunity to demonstrate all that you’ve learned and to reflect the academic excellence that defines Otay Ranch High School.
A reminder to all families and students: the final progress report card of the year will be released this Friday, April 25th. This marks the last formal academic checkpoint before final grades are issued. Please take this opportunity to review your progress, connect with teachers if needed, and stay focused as we head into the final stretch of the school year.
Lastly, I’d like to take a moment to recognize and celebrate the amazing work of our administrative professionals as we observe Administrative Professionals Week, with Administrative Professionals Day coming up on April 23rd. Our office staff are the heart of our school’s daily operations, and we are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts, warm welcomes, and unwavering support for students, families, and staff alike. Thank you for all that you do!
Have a fantastic week, Mustangs. Let’s finish strong and continue to support one another in every way we can.
Respectfully,
Julio Alcalá
Principal, Otay Ranch High School

Mustangs Recognized for Exemplifying the Culture of Achievement and Belonging
Congratulations Grace Essien!!!
"Not only is Grace an excellent student, she is friendly, hard working, and welcoming. In her quiet way, she improves any group she is a part of."
Congratulations Alexander Rincon!!!
Alexander is being recognized by Mr. McBride for Belonging and Learning:
"Alexander recently transferred, mid-school year, from Texas. This is a most difficult time of year to leave one school and enroll in another. In spite of the anxiety of a mid-year move, Alexander has instantly fit right in and become one of my top Biology students -- scoring well on tests and consistently participating in class discussions!"

Message to Students and Parents/Guardians: Cell Phone Use Policy Reminder
As we continue our academic journey together, we want to remind everyone of our cell phone use policy at Otay Ranch High School. To maintain a focused learning environment, cell phones should be turned off and stored away during class time, unless specifically permitted by your classroom teacher. This policy helps minimize distractions and supports our commitment to LEARNING and academic excellence.
This policy is an essential part of upholding our core values of BLUE: Belonging, Learning, Unity, and Empathy. By following the cell phone policy, students demonstrate a commitment to their LEARNING and respect for the educational environment.
Students are allowed to use their phones during passing periods and lunch, but during instructional time, phones should not be visible or in use.
Remember, staying focused in class not only benefits your own learning but also supports the unity and belonging of our entire school community. Let's work together to create a space where everyone can thrive academically and feel valued.
Thank you for your cooperation and dedication to making Otay Ranch High School a place where learning comes first.

In order to get a parking permit, you will need to fill out the following registration form: Parking Permit Registration
(You must sign in with your Student Google Account)
After the form is completely filled out, you may come to the Finance windows and show your Valid Driver License. You will then be issued a parking permit that must be hung on your rear view mirror anytime you park on campus.
After a two week grace period, any car parked in student parking lots without a student parking permit will be subject to be being towed at the owner’s expense.
