Hello HMS Families,

We hope this newsletter finds you all well and staying warm. We try to be as consistent as possible, however sometimes life gets in the way. I (Bess) found out over the weekend that we had a leak in our bathroom that seeped through the floor and we had to rip out our whole bathroom, which completely threw me for a loop. Which is why this newsletter is coming to you today and I apologize that I didn't get it out on Friday or this weekend.

Our social was an absolute BLAST!!! Our Leadership kids put on an amazing event that had rave reviews from everyone who attended. We are able to have events such as this because we have the best kids! A huge thank you to everyone who helped organize and carry out this event.

Our food drive is off to an amazing start! Please consider donating to our food drive and helping us get to 6,000 items. I have the specialty dates listed below in upcoming events. If you are new to our food drive, please be sure and check out the food drive write-up included below.

Hello Hockinson Families!

My name is Ben Nelson, the school counselor here at Hockinson Middle School. It is the time of year for our annual HMS Christmas Giving Tree! I wanted to share some important info and dates for you all.

December 2nd: The Giving Tree tags will be available in the HMS office for pick-up. Each tag you decide to take will have specifics about what item to buy and return. (Example: Female/Age 10- Winter Coat)

December 17th: All gifts must be bought/wrapped and returned to HMS by this date so that we have enough time to distribute them to families.

December 18th-20th: Gifts are distributed to our families before Christmas Break.

If you are a family in need please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you would like to participate. We would be happy to help supply winter clothes, holiday food boxes or gifts for your children.

Also to those families that help make the HMS Giving Tree a success each year, thank you! We could not put on this program without your generosity. If you have any questions about how to best help, please feel free to reach out anytime.

Our annual food is getting ready to kick-off and we are so excited for this event to get under way again. Every year the HMS Food Drive collects thousands of pounds of food for local families that are in need of food assistance. Last year we brought in over 6,000 items of food and we're hoping for an even larger donation this year. The students really get into the spirit of donating as HomeBase classes compete against each other to see which class can donate the most food and earn Food Drive points for their HomeBase. Winning HomeBases earn fame, glory, and lasting pride, along with the coveted Food Drive Champions trophy. All donations will be given to the Clark County Food Bank as well as our District 3 Fire Department and distributed to local Hockinson families.

The first Turn-In-Day was Friday, Nov. 15 and a full explanation, calendar of important food drive dates, a listing of bonus point foods with turn-in dates, and other details will be posted in all places and shared with students soon. Donation totals and leading HomeBases will be announced and posted every Turn-In-Day. We’re looking forward to another successful and exciting HMS Food Drive, so get ready to start bringing in the food.

This is the HMS athletics schedule for next week. We are excited to have wrestling host their first home matches and two more home basketball games. We appreciate all the support shown by our families and hope that you are able to make it to an event next week. If you are interested in volunteering at our home events, please reach out to your coaches and let them know. Good luck to all of our athletes and coaches!

Go Hornets!

PWT is excited to be hosting the Donuts with Santa event on Saturday, December 14th from 9:00am-12:00pm. The proceeds from this event will go towards 8th grade promotion.

We have had requests to create an Instagram account so families can follow us on that platform because they don't use Facebook. So, we are excited to share with you all that we created an Instagram account that is connected to our Facebook page! We are looking forward to connecting with our families using both platforms.
