Good Evening PTE Families!

Only two more weeks of summer before the 2024-2025 school year starts. I hope everyone is soaking up the last few days of vacation before we start a new school year!

With the count down for back to school started, I wanted to check in and give you some important information and dates for you to put on your calendar.

Also, you may have seen other campuses posting about the headphone jack change for the new iPads for 1st-4th graders. Each campus is handling it a little different. Be sure to read the message below about how PTE is addressing the headphone jack change for 1st-4th graders. We have a plan, but need your help to make it happen. For Kinder and 5th graders, the headphone jack has not changed.

📣📣 ATTENTION!! 📣📣 1st-4th Grade Parents!

This year our 1st-4th graders will be getting the newest version of iPads. This is very good news and we are excited that this was approved by our voters in the technology package of the bond.

The new iPads need a USB-C jack for the charger and headphones. This is a different jack from what the majority of headphones come with. In order for the headphones that are in the wrap packs to be compatible with the new iPads, an adapter is needed. Here is the best part. We have adapters available for purchase for $4 each. You will be able to pay your child's teacher the $4 in cash (exact change) at Meet the Teacher or send it with your child the first week of school. It will also be set up in your child's RevTrack account if you would like to pay for it online. Again, this is for 1st-4th graders ONLY.

If you did NOT order a wrap pack, you have two options.

OPTION 1 - You can purchase headphones with the USB-C jack, but those are more expensive. (The price has dropped some since this started.)

OPTION 2 - You can purchase headphones with the S-jack and also purchase an adapter for $4. (S-jack headphones are still cheaper and the price seems to be dropping.)

If you are a Kinder or 5th grade parent, your child will use the more common headphone S-jack. No need for an adapter.

You still have two weeks to participate in the summer reading program with our fabulous librarian, Ms. Howell. She has put together some great prizes for you to earn if you participate. Check out how you can earn a Hot Dog Cookout!

If you have not already done so, you can pick up your yearbook from the front office. There is someone in the office every day from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday-Friday. We will also have someone ready to help you at Meet the Teacher.

• 1st - PTA Membership Meeting 4:30 pm in the cafeteria
• 7th - find out who your child's teacher will be
• 7th - Kinder Parent University - 5:00-6:00 pm (parents only if possible)
• 8th - Kinder Meet the Teacher 4:15-5:15 pm - drop off school supplies, sign up for PTA
• 8th - 1st-5th Meet the Teacher 5:30-6:30 pm - drop off school supplies, sign up for PTA
• 9th - 1st Grade Parent University - 5:00-6:00 (parents only if possible)
• 13th - First Day of School - 1st-5th walk to class independently
• 13th - Kinder families sign-up for a time with their child's teacher to walk child to his/her classroom starting at 7:20 am
• 13th - PTA hosts Tears and Cheers for all families.
• 14th - All students will walk independently into school. We will have lots of people ready to help them get to the correct place.
• 15th - Individual School Picture Day
• 15th - 2nd Grade - Parent University - 5:00-6:00 (parents only if possible)
• 15th - 3rd Grade - Parent University - 6:00-7:00 (parents only if possible)
• 20th - 4th Grade - Parent University - 5:00-6:00 (parents only if possible)
• 20th - 5th Grade - Parent University - 6:00-7:00 (parents only if possible)
• 30th - 5th Grade Run with the Marauders - Marcus Football Stadium - 6:30 pm

We’re kicking off the school year with our first PTA meeting, and we want YOU to be there!

Meet us in the library on Thursday, August 1st at 4:30 p.m. Whether you’re a seasoned PTA pro or new to the community, this is the perfect opportunity to learn all about the PTA, share your ideas, and meet other amazing families.

Bring your enthusiasm, your questions, and your passion for making this school year the best one yet. You'll also be able to check out our new spirit wear and sign up for a PTA membership. We would also love getting help to restock the student snack pantry. Snacks like individually wrapped bags of pretzels, goldfish, applesauce pouches, nutrigrain bars, nut-free granola bars or raisins/craisins are always appreciated!

We can’t wait to see you there! Let’s make this year unforgettable—together!

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 6th, and join us at Bahama Buck's in Double Oak from 3-8 p.m. for a super chill Spirit Night!

Not only will you get to enjoy some cool relief from these hot summer days, but you'll also be helping our school! 🍧🌈

Remember to mention Prairie Trail when you order, and Bahama Buck's will generously give 20% back to our school.

We're excited to welcome our new families to our Popsicles on the Playground event! It’s a fantastic way for your kiddos to meet new friends and kick off the school year with some fun!

Join us at the playground behind the school on Saturday, August 10th. Kindergarten families get to come early at 8:30 a.m. and new PTE families in 1st through 5th grade can arrive at 9:30 a.m.

Come and enjoy some delicious popsicles while making new friends and connections. The PTA will be in the cafeteria selling our awesome spirit wear and memberships. It's the perfect time to stock up on Prairie Trail gear! We can't wait to see you there! 🌟

Have a blast and show off your creativity with fellow Prairie Trail families as we create beautiful chalk masterpieces on the sidewalks (please not on the walls) to help welcome our kiddos back to school! We will beat the heat by meeting at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, August 12th. Art isn’t really your thing? That’s okay! Kind messages are even more welcoming when they’re hand-written in chalk! 🙂 Bring some sidewalk chalk if you have any; if you don’t, we’ve got you covered!

Earn bonus points in our hearts by bringing a box of snacks to help restock our PTE PTA snack pantry, which helps provide snacks for kiddos in need.

Whether you shed a few tears or jump for joy, we're here for you! Stop by the table outside the cafeteria doors after the first day drop-off on Tuesday, August 13 at 7:15 a.m. Enjoy some coffee and pastries while connecting with other parents, sharing experiences and making new friends within our school community on the first day of school. Everyone is welcome to attend!
