Monthly Principal Update - March - 2024-25
Hello Riverview Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family well! As we move into March, I have included several opportunities available to our students during the third trimester below. Also, 8th grade celebration ceremony planning is underway! We need your assistance in making this a memorable celebration for our 8th graders. More information has been included below.
I also wanted to share with you multiple opportunities to get involved at Riverview Middle School.
Volunteers are needed in a variety of roles within our school. Field trip Chaperones, Classroom substitutes, (more info. listed below), Lunch and Recess supervisors are all opportunities for parents and guardians to get involved. Your assistance is always appreciated! There is no better way to feel connected to your child’s education and have a positive impact on the entire class. Background checks are required for all volunteers in our school district.
As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding these opportunities. We thank you for your continued support as we collaborate for the success of our students!

A Word About This Spring's FORWARD EXAM
Hello Riverview Families,
Riverview Middle School students will be participating in the State Forward Exam for 5th through 8th grades beginning with test prep during the Week of 3/31. Students will begin FORWARD Testing on 4/8 - 4/10. The Forward Exam is a computer-based assessment system that tests students in areas of English Language Arts (ELA), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. The Exam is designed to gauge students progress in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. These standards outline what students should know and be able to do in order to be college and career ready. One or more subtests may be administered daily during the identified testing window. Student attendance during this time is very important. Students not in attendance on our scheduled testing days will be scheduled for a make-up prior to the close of the testing window.
I would ask that you encourage your child(ren) to try their best each day. Please help them succeed by:
- Getting plenty of sleep prior to the assessment. Studies indicate students may do better after having 10 hours of sleep. Going to bed earlier helps ensure proper rest.
- Give them the fuel they need. Avoid high-sugar cereals and pastries for breakfast. A more substantial breakfast is encouraged by nutrition experts for better performance.
- Help them relax as anxiety may affect your child’s performance.
- Let them know you believe in them no matter how they do, as long as they have tried their hardest and do their best. A positive attitude has positive results.
Thank you for your continued support and encouragement as we celebrate your child’s success!
