ROCK'in Weekly Update
Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal
As we wrap up another meaningful week, I want to take a moment to reflect on some wonderful highlights and share a few important reminders.
First, a heartfelt thank you to all our Veterans, both near and far! Today, we were privileged to host over 30 Veterans at our Veterans Day Assembly, where we had the honor of recognizing their service, dedication, and bravery. A special thank you to WGIS Grade 6 teacher Mr. Daniel Stromlok, our VIP Guest Speaker, for sharing his story of service and sacrifice with us. His words were truly inspiring, and we are so grateful for his presence. I believe our Wildcats have been deeply moved and will make a great effort to show their appreciation throughout this weekend and beyond.
Additionally, as part of our P.A.W.S. (Positive Action and Wildcat Spirit) program, we celebrated our Wildcats of the Month and awarded our “Pack Awards” to those individuals and classrooms that exemplify our building-wide expectations and positive work habits. Congratulations to all who were recognized for their hard work and dedication—keep up the fantastic effort!
Looking ahead, a friendly reminder that our Annual PTO Sponsored Thanksgiving Food Drive will continue through next week. We encourage all families to participate by donating non-perishable food items to help those in need within our community.
Wishing everyone a restful long weekend with friends and family as we continue to honor those who have served this great nation.
BE AWESOME!
Mr. Kimpland

Nurse's News
It has been wonderful getting to meet a lot of your children over the last few weeks!
Cooler and damper weather is upon us! Please make sure to send your child to school in appropriate attire: jackets, hats, gloves, boots and sneakers to change into.
Accidents and spills happen. I have very limited change of clothing left here at the nurse’s office.
Please send a change of clothing for your child to keep in their locker or class.
There has been an influx of children affected with upper respiratory infections caused by a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics. It is certainly tough to distinguish viral vs. bacterial without testing, so if your child does develop a fever and upper or lower respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, congestion), consult with your family Doctor if further treatment is needed. Additional info can be found by clicking here.
As a reminder, students should not be in school if they have:
- Fever at or above 100 degrees
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
In general, your child should be without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours with no use of medication, before they return to school.
Attendance/Absence: ParentSquare will send a notification mid morning if your child is absent that you will be able to reply with a reason, you must wait for that notification to come through. If you do wish to let us know prior, feel free to send me a message on ParentSquare, via email at bhind@westgenesee.org, or my office at 315-487-4658. Please click here for additional info regarding reporting attendance.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime with any concerns.

Paige's Pajamarama
On Friday, November 15 students in the West Genesee School District are invited to wear their pajamas to school in support of Paige's Butterfly Run, helping kids in the fight against cancer. For a donation of just $1 or spare change, students can participate and contribute to pediatric cancer research and patient programs at Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. Let’s come together in our comfy PJs for a great cause!
Our PTO's annual Food Drive is taking place now through November 15. We are collecting Canned Gravy, Stuffing, cranberry sauce, quick bread mixes, brownie mix, canned vegetables, canned fruit/applesauce, rice, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese. Please donate if you can.

Cold Weather/ Outerwear
The cooler weather is upon us! Please keep in mind that our students will continue to go outside for recess daily. If the temperature is 20 degrees Fahrenheit or above, recess can take place outside. If the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (this includes factoring in the WINDCHILL), recess will be indoors. Students should always have appropriate clothing for the weather each day: Coat, boots, snow pants, hat, and gloves.
**Also, please remember to LABEL your child's cold-weather clothing. You will be so glad you did!
Emergency Closing Information is Important
